Default 24 hour dark before harvest

I’ve read in a few places that before harvest you should give your plants 24 hours in the dark, is there any reason for this? I only did it once my first grow and forgot on all my others by the time I realised it was obviously a little late lmao. Maybe something to to with chlorophyll still being produced with the light?

I chop the plant say 20mins before light is due to come on then when removing any leafs do this in a dull room flip upside down and hang up for week 50% rh temps 15-19c and might sure it's dark and a light fan under the hanging crop without fan blowing on the buds

What’s the reason for it? What’s likely to happen if I don’t?

I tend to think that the more light the better as it is basically adding to the plant bulk. I have found giving dark can cause mold also, but i took it to the extreme and did 3 days dark, due to well, laziness.

I believe people go on the theory that it produce more THC while being in the dark. But to me that doesn't make any since, cause it would take a good couple of weeks for new thc to develop. You should already have all the thc the plants going to produce, so why leave it in the dark for extry time before chop, I don't think it does anything, the dark period is for after the plant has been chop, to keep from growing any more and producing more of the green stuff. JMO What Jimmy said, makes much more since.

I prefer the radio for trimming as the TV distracts my attention

No need to do anything with organics, just cut & trim when is of use to you
