Default Clear pots and cannabis roots

Has anyone here ever tried to grow weed in a clear pot?

So clearly this question is brought on by the Pepsi Challenge.

On the internet everyone knows everything. I have read lots. Most of what is said does not have any proof or personal experience to back it up. Common sense some of it.

Has anyone here ever tried to grow weed in a clear pot?

From what I can see some plants can survive fine with light on roots and others cannot. Everyone i have read says cannabis cannot.

Light and water = algae makes sense and is something to watch out for.

I love cloth pots because the air kills the roots keeping them from getting bound. If light kills the roots would this not serve the same purpose? Why not combine light and air?

I am tempted to grow a Pepsi bottle without blocking the light.

    Cheers.

id cover half the bottle and see does it make a difference to root development,
the clear thing is more about algae blooming inside a moist humid container full of nitrogen rich food that's getting light

that's why dwc must be blacked out

Roots display negative phototropisms, i.e. they grow away from the light for survival

Id suspect roots next to a dark container wall would be more substantial than roots next to a clear open to light wall

    JMO though

Thanks for the answers! I guess my best choice is to grow 1 covered and 1 uncovered and see how they compare. Cheers!

Some species of plants have roots that turn into trunks with bark when they are exposed to light. When I transplant high leaving a root mass out of the soil it turns into a knot of trunks. I am definitely curious to try for myself. Drilling lots of holes for plenty of air as well.

I seen that with the searching surface roots, esp in coco mate. I guess you've kind of answered your query. The roots exposed to light will no longer (to some extent) behave fully like roots and the plant would have a smaller rhizo zone

But I like the comparison idea as the reality may be not as clear as the theory

I have always wondered if the surface roots that turn into trunks are able to absorb air. Never found an answer for that one.
