The op has purely a tub with feed in that he gets where he needs it and then fills his res, so the swing is not due to plants, but maybe what creep says is right, god knows man, willing to read about that though, interesting.

I agree with you mate, the smaller the res the more quickly its affected. Hmmmm i might try dwc again....
Almighty Jesus. I need a lie down. Apologies! haha

I did have a 85L dustbin that I used to use as a reserve res and it had an airstone in it, going 24/7 and the ph remained stable for at least a week, maybe more. Might be the size.

I'll be heading off to do some mental focus exercises

For a ton Sterling, I have ordered a pH controller and a 12V peristaltic pump.

Will attach the probe to the acid concentrate input pipe to ensure accurate reading in the res.

Should save the ball ache of monitoring it ;-) I don’t see another way! It buffers up too quick.

Thanks for all the input - very interesting stuff!

I would say that the, Add 2.5ml of cal-mag to 5 litre of RO water tested to < 15 ppm is your problem! If you bring up your cal-mag ppms up to 100 to 150 that should be enough to stablize your pH.

To clarify, the 2.5ml of cal mag does bring the RO water up to that range. The RO starts at < 15 ppm.

I have a feeling creeper is right mate, besides the 15ppm thing, maybe its just the fact that the ph is drifting due to the small amounts of elements going in. Saying that thou i was using tap water and getting the same thing as you op and also when fully loaded with nutes it could happen

Leave the cal-mag out altogether then test it....The acid in the Ph down is getting naturalized by the cal-mag is my guess....Your better off using cal-mag as a foliar feed anyway it gets absorbed faster and doesn't affect Ec and pH values in your feed solution....Small volumes of mixed nute solutions will drift faster than larger volumes, also temps can be an influence on pH..

If you put your additives in first when mixing your feed and then you A and B you will find this easier to get your desired EC.

Silicon should go in first and then Ph’d to make it available to the plants as this can mess up the whole feed too ( if you’ve done this wrong it will go cloudy)

But if I was you I would strip your whole solution back to basics, base nutes with ph and ec, you can add things one at a time and see what’s causing these fluctuations.

You have to stabilize the RO water before you treat it, If you want a stable pH. You asked why your pH was raising and that is why.

You have to stabilize the RO water before you treat it, if you want a stable pH. After you stabilize the pH with cal mag',then add nutrients and acid and the pH will be stable.
