Default Help : Wiring a STR-135L22 Fan Controller

    Hi

I am in need of electrical help again!

I have a new fan controller that I am trying to wire up.

    It has L N L N U terminals.

I have connected live to L and neutral to N. However, I do not get the LED on the front to light up.

    What am I doing wrong?

I have the fan connected Live to U and neutral to N.

Anyone any experience with these fan controllers?

I can see similar online - but they have different terminals :-(

Does the fan work ?? If not, check the fuses, one in the plug (assuming you put a plug on it), other internal one...led should come on at No.1, have you tried the rest ?

    Occasionally, No.1 is not connected

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

The fan did work - I did not test it before cutting the plug off Doh.

I have tested more than setting 1 - no LED on any setting.

Are we sure we know what the L & N terminals are for?

IE is one mains & one fan, if so, which way around?
It's Not What You Know, It's What You Can Prove

Hopefully a few pics will help

I checked the fan and it works. I used the working plug to re-wire the fan controller, to remove all doubt.

Where does that earth from the fan go to ?? And why is there NO earth on your incoming mains ??

Have you checked that internal fuse ?

The earth goes nowhere. I have clipped it off at the base of the outer flex now.

The wiring diagram did not have an earth - so I removed the incoming earth as well. (I thought, being German, there would be only live and neutral?)

I pulled the internal fuse out and reset it. I have no means to test it otherwise.

I knew the knowledgable people here would be able to verify my wonky wiring! Guess I will have to contact the seller.

Metal enclosures require an earth to avoid electrocution if there is a wiring fault, incoming mains supply needs to come with an earth and be connected to the metal box even if fan doesn't have one

The internal fuse should be a 20mm glass one, you can sometimes see if its popped in a big way, glass will be blackened...failing that buy another of the same rating (3A will be fine for your fan), they're cheap

Its possible previous owner overloaded it and blew the fuse which would explain the no led. There's not much else that can fail in them tbf

Will look for another fuse tomorrow, to try and avoid having to return it. Looks smaller than usual - not glass like though :-)
