you are able to achieve what I cannot. When I tried my plants suffered PH issues late in the grow.

Then again my soil is not even close to the level of yours.

Anyone else not able to like posts on tapa this morning?

Redz will give the definitive but something like 75% of water that goes through the filter ends up in the drain.

As some of you know... my top quality potting soil has been killing my plants and I have been blaiming PH.

This is Malibu Compost Biodynamic Potting soil straight from the bag.

On the left is custom blend 38 liter with first cover mixed in a few days ago. Base is same bag of soil. On the right is straight from the bag.

I have calibrated the pen and double checked readings with buffer 7.0 in between.

3 samples per cup taken from different sections. RO water.

PH matters. Most people posting PH soil issues have not custom mixed and grown a cover crop. If it looks like PH chances are it's PH. That is my opinion and I stand by it.

Here is a better view. Same bag of soil. Left is amended and properly cooked. Right is out of the bag.

I have grown successfully with this soil straight from the bag in the past. Something is wrong with this bag and the last bag.

Mate I swear by mulch! I’ll make sure I’ve always got some form of mulch even if there’s no canna plant in the pot I’ll have a living cover crop. It’s even better when you’ve got the cycle going properly.
I would mulch more with the leaves from defoliating but we juice most of them.
Dry trim from harvest a little while back

    Fresh from bubble tonight

I’ll constantly have a moist layer of mulch, you know microbes can’t work in dry conditions and constantly break down organic materials that’s why there’s always life in the important part of the soil, the top layer.
You’ll even notice when it gets going that you’ll get so many roots growing upwards into the mulch lol this little layer is where all my magic happens, just think of any forest or even place where the leafs drop and are left, this is the same thing,I think it’s the A&B soil horizon if I remember correctly.
    One love

Does this work if the wet layer is at the bottom and not the top? I have been keeping tops dry to combat the gnats. Feeding by filling the saucers all day. Bottom is never dry. So far it's looking good on RO water and compost tea only.
