Default Do you always harvest based off of trichomes?

I was wandering if everyone bases their harvest off of the number of amber to clear trichome ratio? Because i had a plant once that was already 50/50 clear/amber but the buds had a ways to go in developing completely and in getting bigger. So i ended up having to harvest when it was almost 100% amber. Does anyone know if the amber ratio test is always the best technique in knowing when to harvest or if their is a better way of judging and knowing when they are ready? Im asking now because a friend of mine told me to ask because he has the same problem now with a lot of amber but his buds could still get bigger it seems. Thanks for your help guys!

You have to go by the trichomes, once they turn amber the lights start to degrade the thc losing potency.

If you had 100% amber you probably had less potent bud than when it was at 50/50 I'm afraid.

Please dont get confused with amber trichomes and orange hairs!

Just to throw another spanner in the works, ive had a few strains where the trich's go all cloudy really early on, way before the buds have properly matured. I kind of had to just judge when it was done from the other signs a plant gives off when it is ready, sometimes they dont go amber either!

    Here's a 10ml spanner too lol,

I've had strains that don't even turn amber at all!
