Hi Gaz, it's a bog standard supermarket multi-purpose compost. Maybe I need to go more specific? I germinate my seeds in paper towels and pot them in a root riot cube. The soil is warm to the touch - but not too much (I thought).

    Lol. Indeed

Id say that multi purpose supermarket compost would imply a high possibility that the soil is far to hot for canna

it's a Lidl Grandiol peat-free compost. Cheap - so useless! The annoying this is that I'm always told that these plants are pretty robust but maybe that's only in their natural environment!!

I think they survive better with less rather than an abundance which just shrivel them up and kills them.

Its like putting me in a room full of weed, lots of munch and no responsibities. I would soon kill myself through over indulgence as I just don't know what's good for me

At least that's how I see it atm

The soil has a poor reputation amongst vegetable gardeners and the general advice is to avoid it at all costs.

The npk ratio is 8 8 8 so Id argue far too hot but Im no expert... M_C will confirm

At 99p for 20L it aint ever gonna produce good bud mate regardless of NPK ratios.

Buy some Verve from B and Q and start again mate is my advice

Hmmm... it should be OK from what I read but it's looking too rich for your plants... I'd say a good flush was in order...

Pure compost with perlite . Thats too much . Some composts can be extremely strong .

Dig the bugger up if you can . Repot it with a 40\40 peatmoss compost and 20% perlite for a simple mix .
