But having more competitors than voters is a total piss take.
For me I'd make it a stipulation for every competition that you must have voted in at least one of the potm or botm competitions

Now that's a cracking idea in my opinion, cant see anything wrong with that!

Its literally a few clicks to offer a token of respect for ppls hard work!! No excuse not to vote really, unless youve just forgot this month... Lol coz we are still stoners after all pmsl

Something else to remember is the more people that vote on the POTM and BOTM, the more we attract sponsors and seed companies who want to have there genetics displayed in a popular comp??

    Ya feel me?
Mo voters, mo sponsors, mo prizes

    Well said Gaz.

I'm a tapa boy, as you know. Would an announcement (like the comp rule change announcement) in the comp section help?

What about a locked thread that explains 'ways to vote'? we could add the link in comp rules at the start of the comps?

If I had enough different strains I could reward voters with 2 choices of strains in TBSH and non voters getting the normal 1 strain. That would be a good incentive, I need to wangle another 30 strains though lol.

    Just to add;

While I agree that it should be voters only entering comps, that could cause a backlash for me.

The reason I haven't implemented the rule 'non voters cannot enter' in TBSH is because if we start having low number of entrants because of that rule, I cant go to potential prize donors with a half full comp. I would never get any donations lol.

I think to find a solution we need to find out why some members are not voting, maybe someone could create a thread asking why members dont vote and see some of the reasons so they could be possibly addressed...great thread this though, because its highlighting an issue that really shouldn't be one....

It's got to be down to 2 reasons imo,

1, I use tapa and didnt know how to vote (which we all know is easy now)

    2, I'm a stoner and I forgot.

I wonder if it's possible to jiggle around in the admin CP and restrict who can post in a thread. That way everyone can view the comp thread but only those who voted can actually post in the thread. Hmmmmm

Yeah I think some comps need to be open to all like the BSH but then maybe run a second comp like the one Im doing, staggered with the BSH for BOTM & POTM voters only?

Im definitely of the mind, as all of the mods are, that voting numbers on the monthly comps will push the Talk forward...

Rather than you doing more on the BSH we could just run a second monthly comp, Im happy to do it FYI.

Funny enough I actually PM M_C about this very subject much earlier today

    Rather than

I think you've hit the nail on the head here Ironman mate..

I like the idea of restricting who can post in a thread until they vote..it will just give them a gentle nudge

Alot of the time i genuinely just miss it...

When i come on tapa i just scroll down the subbed threads and then jump over to the new posts, if i come off before its there then i dont vote

Then when i do see it i forget whether ive voted or not and tend to not be arsed to check!
