Default CFL's, Red and blue, or just red? (auto flower)

    Hi,

    Just a quick question

If one was to grow 3 easy ryders (auto flower) under 250w cfl's, would it be best to use a blue for the vegging and a red for flowering?

What kind of difference in end product would it make?

Basically, is it worth spending another £40 on a blue light, or just stick with one red all the way through.

    Cheers

the blue light produces the correct light spectrum for veg however you can veg a plant with a red cfl - IMO it's worth getting both as the plants need both spectrums of light to grow

blue is for veg red for flower yes m8

if you can afford it then go for it

Well, thing is i suppose i could afford it, but the setup so far has come to about 150, and i'm not sure if it's worth it or not.. For example, lets say it increased the yield by.. 1gram a plant, then it definitely wouldn't be worth it.. but if it was say.. 5-10 g a plant then it definitely would be worth it.

Do you know if the difference made between using red all the way through, or using blue for veg and red for flowering, would be significant enough to warrant £42.50 (keeping in mind the grow space is only 70cm x 80cm x 50 cm (height/width/depth)?

go for it man, your space sounds about the size of a clone tent maybe bit bigger/smaller? if u can get both lights with or without the shades in there then go for it, more lumens the better.try to aim for too much lumens for your space, the beauty of this being you cant have too much lumens

or you could get a dual spectrum 300w cfl which has the blue and red spec so you don't need to change bulbs

    dual specs

Already purchased the light red light

There isn't enough room for 2 at the moment, so if i brought it, it would have to be blue for the first 2 weeks of veg, then replace bulb with red for the rest.. anyone know how much better the blue will be in place of the red? I mean it's only 2 weeks.. i can't seem to find much info on how much difference it would make.

If you buy anbother light, then you may as well spend the £7 on the holder thing and run both simultaneously. That'll defo see a big increas in yields. Enough to pay back the expense I'm sure.

you can still use a red spec mate all throught a grow,it wouldnt be any good if you use a blue one all through the grow ,using a blue spec light is obviously better then the red for vegging but not a great deal of difference mate, stick with the red if you want all through the grow
