whats the best air pump?

Hi All. I am just beginning a grow in a nft 424 tank in my growdrobe.

I have just tried the airstone in the sink with an air pump my friend gave me (which was nice).

Anyway, the volume level from the pump (hailea aco-2204) is outrageous!

I've tried wrapping the thing in foam, but as the growdrobe is in my bedroom (this is the only place!), it's hard to sleep let alone put up with a constant 'drrrrrrrr' in the background! Desperate for a quieter pump.

any help, much appreciated.

Yeah those tetratec pumps are pretty quiet, you can try hanging the pump so its not touching any surfaces so less vibrations.

you dont need an air pump with NFT that would be totaly defeating the purpose of Nutrient Film Technique

the plants have access to atmospheric oxygen (the air around it) therefore you should not need an air pump the flowing back down into the reservoir oxygenates the water

people grow all different ways but all i was saying is that true NFT doesnt use airstoes and air pumps

putting an airstone in the res hardly disqualifies it from being "true nft" it can be seen as a precautionary measure to ensure dissolved oxygen levels(not atmospheric oxygen)are kept optimum and I have grown in nft many times I'm not a noob.
