Default help needed with tech questions on lighting ballasts

    hi guys
well after a swift kick up the ass from yoko i looked into better lights than my cfl's.
my friend has given me a ballast conected to a reflector.my problem is it has no bulb and im not sure what sizes it can take,my friend tells me its only for a 150w bulb and bigger will blow it?,hes not a grower himself and has no tech knowledge about these things(as clued up as me then lol) so i looked at the labels on the ballast its self.from what i can make out it used to be an all in one unit and some one has split the ballast and reflector so the ballast can sit outside the room.
heres some pics of the labels, sorry for bad pics

im not sure if you guys can make it out on the top pic but it says...100-400w ignitor, surely that means 100-400w bulb or am i being a complete n00B?
i would love to get a new bulb for it at some point tomorrow so any help would be great
    cheers guys

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you start this thread a few days ago somewhere else? If not, there's someone else here who's been given virtually the same kit as you by a mate just like yours and neither of them can figure out what it is either.

That's mental.. this is a wicked coincidence.

Regarding ya question, I don't think we can tell for sure from the pics, but in the top one, just under the letters "APU", it looks to me like it says 400w. However, to be very honest with you, I'd seriously recommend buyng a new bulb with a properly rated compact ballast from Greens horticulture. If the thing you were given overloads and catches fire you could be seriously in the soup and you don't want a fire, that's for sure.
