Bubbler Question

hi guys

i have always grown in an NFT system but i have just been given a system very similar to this one.



i was jus wondering if i still root my seedlings into a rockwool and cover the rockwool in pebbles??

yeah start in rockwool and then you can put in net pot with hydroton.

do i root into the 1'' block and then the 3'' inch blocks or jus the small ones??

Just the 1 inch should do, most net pots wouldn't fit the 3" anyway.

any idea what feed is best to be used with this system?

I heard canna aqua is meant to be good I think it may have been mj matt that was using it in a bubbler, its designed for recirculating systems meant to keep ph more stable I used it in nft but to be honest any decent hydro nute should be good.

I use the full Canna range and the Aqua is spot on, just watch the strength though as the Vega can be easy to over-nute them with, I stick to 80% max' normally. They seem to take Flores at full strength though OK but I've bombed off the Boost altogether (too costly) and make my own using treacle (molasses), honey and saccarine however I'm about to also invest in a vitamin/ amino acid booster to go with it. Also looking into Hammerheads 9/ 18 instead of PK 13/14 as heard better results over in holland (and they seem to do OK...).

I use these on rockwool cubes though and not bubblers etc though but I'd imagine the same effects.

Bubblers shoule be run at a lower EC iirc, I would start seed on 0.5 going up to EC1 in veg and then EC 1.2 for flower. This is how I run my nft.

i set it up yesterday. the only problem is that when i switch the air compressor on it makes quite a lot of noise.

With my grow room being in my attic it is causing problems as you can hear it in the kitchen downstairs, so i know i wont be able to sleep with that on.

is there any easy and cheap way of making it quieter.
