    Default trichomes

    Hey all,
I have read various articles on trichomes and what they should look like before you harvest. Mostly I have been told that when the trichomes are getting opaque (70% or so), that is the time to harvest.
BUT, I just recently read a chapter in a book that said when the trichomes on the buds and small leaves are transparent that is the time to harvest.
When is the best time to harvest?
Transparent or opaque, that is the question.
    PLEASE help this confused harvester.
    Thank you,
    Grinchmon

From what Ive gathered clear trichs=headstone, milky trichs=couchlock, and of course 50/50 gives you a mix of the 2!

From anything Ive grown and checked with a microscope I have deffo had some HEFTY headstones from buds with clear trichs, hadn't tried those strains before though,so I may be wrong.

Im currently monitoring my WW's trichs, they are clear atm, waiting for that all important 50/50 before I chop her down.

Cloudy to amber is the best time to harvest. Amber means they are breaking down but it can give more of a couch lock feel. Clear means they haven't matured enough.

As far as i can gather it depends on what type of high your after, the more cloudy the more of a couchlock and clearer a more head high (i think) but im sure someone will come along and answer more accurately, have you had a look through the harvesting board there might be some info on there.
there you go, answered by the time i typed this, great forum this

It's all a personal choice mate but if they are all clear then it is deffo too early.

To be honest it can be hard to judge. Every time I've checked there is quite a difference between the top and bottom of the plant. ie. Mostly cloudy at top with some amber, mostly clear at bottom with some cloudy. I've had one plant that had some clear, mostly cloudy, some amber and some looked like they been burnt lol - obviously too late! I will chop when I get that golden glow from the middle of the plant.
