    Question Cfl grow lights

When growing auto flowering plants can you use blue cfl lights or do you have to use red ones and there is no vegative stage for auto flowering plants so theres none of this 12\12 light crap please any info will help me make a choice on which cfl lights to pick

if its an auto buy a red bulb and use this for the whole grow as these are for flowering and yes autos dont need 12/12. leave it on 18/6 for it whole life.
ps the search bar does wonders

Just because there isn't 12/12 doesn't mean you wouldn't need a red bulb to flower your plants to their best. You could use a blue bulb put you will get 'empty bud' no density and will be considerably smaller. I don't know much about autos but if i were i would probably use blue for about 2 weeks just at the start as i know the plants love blue cfls for veg then switch to a red for the rest of the time. Hope this helps, 123

They will flower with a blue cfl mate but the yeid won't be great and you could veg on a red cfl but it will be slow. So ideally you want one of each.

They will also start to flower regardless of what lighting cycle they are on aswell.

blue = veg, red = flower, but i dont think it matters too much with autos as long as they get 18hrs it should be ok.
At the mo im growing autos (lr2) but im using both 250w blue cfl and the same red.
If i had to pick only 1 i think it would be the red 1, as theres more flower time than seedling/veg time.

5 replys by the time i wrote this, go-on thc, what a site.

I agree if you cant buy both buy red but if you can buy both and you might need it for when you grow a strain that isnt auto ?
