Thought i would make a little guide to making a cheap grow tent for newbies or people that are on a budget. All the items i used were found on a popular Internet auction site. Items i already had lying around were a 300w Red CFL, 4" Carbon Filter + In-line Fan and some easy roll hangers.
Items Needed:
Double "pop up" Canvas Wardrobe
3m Mylar Reflective Sheeting
Duct Tape/foil tape
Sharp Knife
Scissors
3 Strips of wood, 1M is fine
Step 1:
Set up your canvas wardrobe, its fairly straight forward - read the instructions included. you should end up with this:
Step 2:
Cut your Mylar to fit and tape it in place, you may need to tape it to the poles as the canvas isn't great with adhesives - spray glue would also work.
Make sure everything is covered or else you will get light leaks, you can clearly see by turning the lights off in your room and your grow light on, see pic below, guess which bit doesn't have Mylar covering it.
Step 3:
I would definitely recommend using a carbon filter, in all cases. For the sake of 30 quid or getting caught. Cut a hole in the back of the tent the same size as your ducting, in my case it was 4"
Stick some tape around any gaps in the ducting hole, and hang your carbon filter on the top rail of the wardrobe
Step 4
Time to hang your lights, my case its a 300w CFL which should work perfect in this environment.
Step 5:
Remove the bars in the middle, as you need the space for your plants, simply bend them out.
I also put some strips of wood at the base of the wardrobe as its not the strongest thing, plus 20l DWC bubblers are quite heavy!
That's it, all you need is some plants!
Hope you found this helpful.
sorry i dont have a completed picture, but you get the idea!
