    i stumbled on this link & found it very use full
    so i hope it is ok to share with you all?

    there is one section that says
    Position 400 watt HID lamps 18 to 30 inches above plant tops, and 1,000 watt lamps 30 to 42 inches above the tops. During flowering, flowers may "run" rather than form in compact buds if lamps are positioned too close to the plant tops, particularly when using HPS's.
    does any one else try this??
    i am gonna lift my light up from 12" to 20" from the top of the plant,

    It's a funny world we live in - We had Empires run by Emperors, then we had Kingdoms run by Kings. Now we have Countries run by Cunt's...
    Paranoia is just a fancy word for "acute awareness"

    I just read it (well most of it).

    Don't know much about HID lighting, so can't offer an opinion.

    I did find stuff about Companion Planting (plants that help ward off pests), which I found interesting and useful.
    Underground, Overground, Wombling free.

    No mate I disagree with this big time.
    I have my 600s as close as poss without causing heat stress.
    I have been lazy on a grow once and left the lamps at the top result equals smaller yield and less dense buds

    HID = High Intensity discharge
    HPS = High Pressure Sodium
    HPS is a HID
    Metal Halide is also a HID

    Non HID lighting includes fluorescent and incandescent fwiw

    Hi DangerDragon

    As, I said, I don't know much about HID lighting, in that I have no experience in using them. I can't offer any practical advice on the best distance regarding how close you can keep them to your plants. Try the link below.

    I do know that HID = High Intensity Discharge and HPS = High Presure Sodium. HPS including, Mercury Vapor and Metal Halide are all types of HID lighting.
