Question Too much light for a tent?

    Hey, guys.

I've a question I'm hoping you can help answer..

I'm using a Budbox Xl (1.2x1.2x2m) and am going to upgrade the lighting at month end. After a few recent threads here I've decided to get a 600w Digital Parabolic. I'm also getting a 5" Ruck fan/filter (I think).

    Now.. here's the thing..

I'm thinking of ALSO using my current 250w kit to add a MH bulb into the tent in addition to the 600w HPS to give some blue light.

In total that's going to be 850w. Do you guys think that'll be too much heat for the tent, and if not do you think a 5" fan will be enough to remove the heat or will I need to go bigger than that?

    Thanks for ya help folks.

try it on a dry run and check temps

your need more than a 5 inch ruck i think for the summer and a bigger fan might mean to much neg pressure you may need a input fan as well imo

Thanks for your help so far, guys.. but.. shit.. I've just checked the prices for a 6" and it's an extra £85 on top of the 5" price!! That puts me over budget so it's a no no for now.

Ok.. so I'll leave out the 250w and just use the 600w for the tent, and re-commission my old drobe for the 250w and use that for some vegging.

So, do u guys think I could just scrape by with a 5" fan and the 600w bulb? Bear in mind I'm using a parabolic reflector which, as I'm led to understand, helps reduce temps.

    Thoughts?

Agreed. I've got that covered by using a PC fan for intake.

i think you would be fine. you can reduce temps by extracting under the bulb. so ducting positioned appropriately. may be difficult with a parabolic, but worked well for me with a diamond, i just hung the ducting from the reflector , which didnt interfere with the light spread.

you be ok..I had a 600w hps and a 5inch ruck fan..also a desk fan inside and temps were about 27c to 29c but that was in quite cool weather like we are having now, expect a increase in temps inside your grow tent when it gets hotter outside..expect up to 35c
