Mate, you do not need vermiculite for water retention, coco retains something like 9x its wieght in water already,so no need to water every day(you can if you want, but no need to!)

I find coco almost like soil, but easier, and much better yielding, remember to use either calmag,or add some black treacle to your feeds.

    hi fella,
my opinion is not to put anything in ur coco. i had a 3 year stint growing wiv coco & tried many dif things wiv it. i found that it (coco) was best left alone. i've had some blinding results wiv coco & it does give u a little lea way for mess-ups. its pretty tolerant for abuse, the thing i did find wiv coco is u do get a salts build up so i do recomend that once every 3-4 weeks flush ur medium through wiv 4-5 times its mass wiv water . i used to do mine in the bath & give em a good hour to drain. coco is a brilliant medium if used to its potential, its widely used commercially as for its benifits.

    Hi Flygerian,

Coco / Perlite on a 2 : 1 ratio is a good mix ... lets plenty of oxygen get to the roots and doesnt dry out too quickly... just make sure the perlite from your grans shed is clean i.e the bag hasnt been opened yet so no nasties are lurking within if its been lying open a while

    cheers and good luck

Thanks Monny. I've actually given the ladies in coco away as I want a break from growing once my DWC grow is finished. But will have a small coco grow coming up in november or something so I'll remember that. Cheers mate.
