How to add text to urls or sigs

Ok:
click on planet thing and paste link into box. Delete http thing if it helps, it should overwrite it anyway. Click ok and the box closes. On the screen is the text/code of the link. Half of this is highlighted blue. This is where you type the words. The unhighlighted bit gives the url and the highlighted blue bit is what will appear in the message.

done that , after you pasted and click ok , it then comes on blue on the screen , do you write inside of taht blue or in front or after or inside of it iv tried all 3 ways lol still no joy ha ha

joey when you click the insert link button you get a box that says http: ?
either erase the blue http: or just paste the url you chose and lots of words will be blue..no need to erase the blue just type in your own words

This is how you add a hyperlink to the forum or your profile and avoid displaying url’s all over the place.


To create a hyperlink on a forum so that it doesn’t look like a url..

Start the process by typing and then copy the url after it like so it would look like .



Now, we’ve just told the forum to start a hyperlink.. but we also want to tell it to display text instead of the url and also what text to display on the screen, and we need to tell it to end the hyperlink so it knows where it starts and where it ends.
In this case we’re going to use google (surprise)

How we tell it to add text is by adding a after the url.. THEN typing in our text and close it by adding the at the end.

So at this point it will look like this .


You can also bold, italic, resize and/or colour it it by adding the relevant tags which (for bold and italics) will make it look like this




Can you notice any common symbols in those bb code tags and *where* they go in the tag?


As you can see that hyperlink is made up of a few different components in this instance.
1 – The tag to start telling the software what to do

2 – The url to the website or page

3 – A word for the hyperlink to show in the post / sig (in this case Google)

4 – A tag at the end to tell the software that we want to display everything between and


What will appear on the screen as just the word Google with a hyperlink colouring the text light blue. Like this >>>>> Google.

Try it with google in this thread, then try making the hyperlink bold or italicised or with a new colour.
