Default The CMH Powered, micro Perpetual SOG

ok so ive got a new project on the go and im bound to need a bit of help on the way so hence this thread
my aim is to produce bud on a stick plants that produce 7g dry , im not sure if that poss with this set up and it will be fun finding out
i plan to put new clones in every mth or three weeks which ever works best, ive not got a calender out yet to work it out, but its not got to be that precise, i can work out the timing, once i have the pot sizes and such sorted, so the first few run will be to make sure ive got the clone size right and the pot size correct
its a small cab so ive got to limit the plant hight so i think i can do this by restricting the pot size, clone size and there will be no veg time rooted clones straight in to the coco pots, the pot sizes to begin with will be 1pint plastic cups and 380ml pop bottles

    the equipment:

the cab is two single kitchen wall units cobbled together,
cooling is a squirrel cage fan recycled from a portable air cooler, its three speed and even got a swanky remote control! posh eh?
i made a manifold to fit the 5inch ducting and a filter,
the intake vents are passive and made from 40mm waste pipe elbows painted black inside to make light traps with hepa filter type stuff over one end to filter the air going in the cab and keep out rot spores and pests
there will be a 120 mm pc fan on a arm to fan the plants (not fitted yet i need a flexy arm suggestions welcome)
    lighting is
3 x 70w ceramic metal halide bulbs, (warm white colour) on a diy rig that is on a pulley system and remote electronic ballasts on the outside of the cab,
    the temps are good,
    nutes:

will be canna aqua flores, epsoms salts and silicon for healthy growing, and pk 13/14 when needed nothing more,

    strains:
    Pineapple Express from g13 labs
    Mobydick from dimafem
Trifle by mr pipling (double zero)
GJ66 a c99 hybrid of my own doing
    Blue Berry
    Juicy Fruit
and others that ive not popped yet ill up date as they are done

the problem i will have is the plant numbers i will be way over the ten plant site limit so ill just blank the plants out in the pics,or not put them in the pics,
the cab will hold 30 plants when running at full cap, or more of i go with the 380ml pop bottles, i dont want to fall foul of the rules so it wont be mentioned again

ok some pics of the build

the door can be shut much better with this type of catch

control panel which is mounted in a ice cream tub now
it has the capability of using the two electric motors it had in the unit as fan movers if i want, high tech stuff!

    working cab

    light rig and the ballasts

    plants in there

the ice cream tub is a coco hempy with tow air stones in it from another micro cab they are in here cos im using the cab for a cloner at the mo they will go back in when the cab is free again

ok this is the first instalment ill post up my simple cloning method tomorrow or later , ive tried many methods, but this one im using now has been the simplest and most successful

any help, praise, piss taking, criticism and banter will be most welcome i think
    thanks for joining in

they are the shiniest part of the build diply m8, they are sash window locks and 8 quid each gulp! but worth it imo, i,ve always had problem sealing doors of cab's and these little beaut's do the job just peachy
the cmh bulbs are a bright white light not the green they look but i couldn't find a cam setting on my cam to show the right colour, still it looks cool lol
im quite surprised at how cool they run, only very slightly hotter than the 200w cfl that was in there first
thanks for commenting m8 and please come along for the ride,

Hey McGuyver, looking great! I like the fan, and the clean looking Mylar. Did you glue it to make it so smooth?

I went and bought a bunch of lumber today for my new cab. Still shooting for a Nov 1 start date. We'll see. h

Ps. A couple of those plants look like the ones I forgot to water. Lol

    lol McGuyver haha

im really looking forward to seeing what i can do with this little cab , one of my ballasts went down to day it seems to trip is self so sending it back for a replacement

its diamond mylar hemi so much easier to work with then the thin mylar sheet worth the extra cost i think, and i glued it on, i was a bit pissed it wasnt as flat as i wanted it ,
oh i forgot to say this whole cab has cost about less than 150 pounds so not much really for the fun ill get from it and the smoke i hope to pull every the or four weeks

ah i see no ive got the space under the cab as its waste hight to make working easy
ive got a small 205 nft tanks from the first nft i did and i start the plants in there in their coco cubes, in that they just fit in there with no space between them i can get a few weeks in it before they are to big, so i can get a jump start and im using clones next time just got to get the timing right

Looks great, I can see this working very well. The 70watt CMH bulbs are brilliant and I like the way you have mounted them vertically. When I got mine I also mounted it vertically (in a small cab) with no issues, but when I remounted it horizontally, with a small reflector and bang beneath the exhaust fan It burned my top leafs so had to fit a thin (2mm) glass heat shield, just something to bear in mind but I think you get better heat dispersal like you have them. Subbed for this grow :-)

Btw, was this inspired by the classic 'DrBudGreneGenes grow? It reminds me of it with the wooden box and small cups. He also used to grow SOG in a box using clones in small cups and as I recall used to pull a couple for harvest every week!

    Good luck mate :-)

Looks like something from the Alien to me mate, what are those chimneys for?

Got to say, you don't let the bastards drive you down, do you mate, 'Weebles wobble but they don't fall down', springs to mind.

Takes more than a couple of dogfish, or a Spanish girl down the road to stop a Forest, long may it continue mon ami.

Bon courage avec notre nouvelle projet.

Oh yeah, you're mylar could have been done a bit better, I can see some some 'sticky up' bits there.

I'd stick to the fishing if I were you, you're obviously not cut out for this dope growing thingy.

    Need more pics, as well.

i was going to get the 942's but i was trying to keep the cost down and the 942's were g8.5 sockets on ebay, and i couldn,t find any sockets so went for the 830 with g12 sockets and im glad i got the sockets cos the bulbs are in real tight in them
how bright? you dont want to look at them you cant see properly after, i had a 200w cfl in there first and its pants compared to the brightness of 210w of these and it a lovely white light
i bought the ballasts second hand the guy sold them for 8 quid delivered electronic one as well im very pleased with them
all three cost 50 notes in all not bad really is it ? he has 150 ballast as well on the bay i nearly got to of them for 9 quid each but thought these would be more flexable

    ok update time
well im a week late for the next clones to go in, i need to get my self a printed dairy to put up on the wall to let me know when to do the clones
and these clones are taking longer to root its new strains going in there
blueberry, juicyfruit and a nice looking trifle, thats showing a nice bit of purp

the moby dick clones have had some problems as the mom did in my nft and the leaves drooped and went pale, mg def i think as im in coco and in flower ive sorted them out now with foliar fed alg a mic from biobizz seem to be good plant vitality booster, im also feeding it in the water as well
ive got a few clones on bio bizz bloom nutes with alg a mic so all organics, ill be using compost and EWC teas as well
the rest are on canna aqua flores, silica, agl a mic, and pk13/14 when i need it
im feeding every time i water, a quite low ec of 1.2
i make 10L up at a time and bubble it as im using it. that lasts a week , im watering with a good run off and chucking the waste away in the garden the bio feed is made in a 2 l milk bottle,

no pics im afraid ive left the cam in the grow, so ill put up some tomorrow and post how im cloning, its very simple and works well

    cheers for coming

Only just seen this Forest, in yoour sig. Looks really neat and tidy. You really know your shit when it comes to DIY mate. I can DIY to the point it does the job, but it looks really shit when I try things lol.

I flowered a few cuttings from the moment they rooted, but unfortunatly realised I only had room for 5 plants at the most in my 1.2m tent, so I can't really tell you what to expect, but you should be looking at about 3-4 weeks til you start seeing buds from the moment of transplant though. I like your ice cream tub/hempy/scrog. Will you be taping the cups to prevent light exposure to the roots mate. I'd hate to see you having any more cock ups.
Got a little bit of Blueberry yum, yum and I never woulda thought that it could taste this good. Thank god for that man that put it in my Hood..

hi m8 the light issue on the cups has been sth on my mind from when i started this but i want to know if i could do it with out taping them, i like to see the roots, as ive seen others in semi clear and doing fine but im having issues and the only two factors that are under the spot light are ,the light and the fact its old coco from my hempys grows, well flushed and low ec of the tap water
heres a pe that has never been right ridges on the leaves means sth but ive got to look it up

    this is a trifle

this is a pe that didnt stretch as it was taken from a mom 8 days in 12/12 i think

the moby dick is not well all the md clones have been this bad but so has the mom in the nft

    ideas ?
    this is a pe

this is a pe or trifle they look the same lol

here the ice cream tub hempy they are doing ok and are going to be compact as they were meant to be , it looks lime green but they are not that bad a few old fans but all new growth is cool ive removed the old yellow leaves now and it looks good

ok any help greatfully taken should i tape the cups? or are they fine?
my skillz are not showing at the mo still this is how you learn to grow by the problems
