Thanks for the response mate, I've repotted since I last uploaded that picture, they are no longer seedlings, probs 5 - 6 more times bigger than that now. Just got their 5th set of leaves. I'll try again mate, but do I have to re-pot, or will they be ok?

Depends what size pot you have them in. You really want minimum of 5ltr but anything from 8-10ltr will be fine for them.

Something I learned in College, if your plants start to wilt after you re-potted them might be an air pocket under the bottom of your plant. I now ALL WAYS after I transplant in pot or ground, watter till the soil is like quick sand and gently shake the pot till I know the soil settled, or if in the ground, out side of the root ball push my hand/s down in the soil and move my hand/s gently around to get any air out. Most times the plants don't even act like they been messed with. If I see any wilting I water again and shake them some more.. I have been surprised more then once how much air, bubbles up. When I worked at a nursery they liked how I did the transplanting.

I need to add soil to the bottom of my pots as I've lost about 4" as the soil has settled down through watering, movememnt etc.

Could I use this method to remove the plants (in between fingers) add the soil needed to the bottom of the pot, and then replant in the pot?
Should I water the bottom part before I replant, or replant and water the whole pot?

Should the repotting be done before or after a water, as if it's too dry I guess the soil would just come out like sand and not stick together?

    Great guide, very helpful!

    cheers grub dude
never grown in soil before i usually just whack em in the final pot 11ltr from clone.( in coco ) so i take it its important to do do this in stages in soil... wot would happen if i put clones into 11ltr pots from the off in soil?? like what advantages does potting up have.

I find that repotting 2 or 3 times provides the plant with a good supply of fresh nutrients and continues to feed the plant for several weeks. If you go from clone into 11L pots the plants will be fed for a few weeks but a lot of the nutrients will be lost over time from regular watering etc.
In the past I have gone from clone/seedling into 1 big pot, but I found that after just a few weeks the plants need feeding. Whereas repotting 2 or 3 times supplies a fresh amount of food when they need it and more often than not can supply enough food for the entire grow.
Repotting also allows you to keep an eye on the roots to make sure they are healthy and that no rot is setting in.
