Default Tent inside garage and mylar question???

I've been looking at making a grow room in my garage but would rather stick a tent in there and still vent to outside. If I went for the tent option would I need to insulate the garage further? Has anyone done a similar set-up? Also is there a lot of difference between 210d and 600d mylar tents? I know the obvious answer but is a 210d tent still pretty good since they make them and would one be suitable for a garage?

It would still be wise to insulate your garage properly mate

I grow in my garage in a 1200x2400 tent. Using 2x 600ws. It's considerably warmer in the tent than the garage. Its also warmer in the garage than it should be but no warmer than it is with my dryer on. My garage walls are insulated but I don't think my roof is. I don't worry about the temps in my garage only about going in and out and people seeing me at least twice a day. They must think I'm a real DIY enthusiastic kinda guy haha

Don't start getting me paranoid you bastard! Lol. The garage is connected to my house so it makes it more plausible. For all they know I could have extended my kitchen into it

Just throw some insulating on the top of your tent. Sorted.

I grow in a garage attached to my house and I split my garage into 2 halves - 1 side for my 2 tents and the other for my chill room. I boarded over my garage door on the inside and took my window out at the back of the garage and put a door there so I could get into the garage threw my back garden with out every one in my street thinking "why does he go in his garage at 11pm?? " noisy as hell them doors
I fully insulated both rooms Walls and ceilings with 50mm kingspan and loft insulation packed behind. I also got a thick wooden door with 2 good locks on it from the chill room to the grow room for security.
Running 2 600w in an uninsulated garage is asking for trouble mate really - insulating it is expensive but well worth doing IMO

That sounds like a sweet idea pal. I'm defo gonna have to get some insulation on the go. I might just board to my rafters and insulate on top of the boards

Yeah that's how I did my roof mate - just fill out between each joist with loft insulation (wear protective suit and mask/goggles mate as it's hard work on ur own and itchy stuff),I then fastern straight to the joists with the kingspan using long screws and big penny washers to hold the board in place - becarefull u don't screw it too tight as it will still fly threw the board.
I would say use the 50mm kingspan at least.
Give me a shout if u need any advise mate - try and forward plan it all out before u start the work, much easier to sort ur intake/outtake before fitting the boards.
    Good luck mate.

What did that cost you Friday?
I'm thinking of doing it in a two up two down town house?
Have not got a clue on what I would need but am a keen DIYer.
Would I need to insulate the floor of the loft as well?
    Cheers bud

    Hi mate.
It cost me about £500 for the kingspan and timber and loft insulation. I used a loft floor insulation board for my floor under my tents - it's 100mm polistyine with chip board glued on top but it's all tong n groove so fits together nice that's £10 a board (350mm x 1000mm) I used about 7 for my 2 tents to sit on - keeps the cold off the tents great.
It's the time that it takes that is the twat - I did it all my self including all the plumbing, running of wires - apart from the attaching to the mains as mates a spark, working out exhaust and intake. I too have no building experience and it took me a few weekends to do it doing 10hrs days but I had 2 rooms to do and I plastered the chill out room to for cosmetic appeal. It was real hard work doing it on my tod but the secret it making a plan and sticking to it - I spent months thinking/planning how I would do it - mostly when lay in bed trying to get some sleep for work in 6hrs
But iv got to say I really enjoyed doing it and now that it's finished and I know that the roof holds snow on it I'm a happy little secret grower.
Good luck with ur build mate - if u need any advice just pm me, as I said I'm no builder/joiner but if I can help im all ears.
