Default How effective is your fan & filter combo.

I've just bought a 5" Ruck Inline Tube Fan with an Airflow of 330m3/hr and plopped a 5" rhino filter 500m3/hr on the end.

Good heavens, I was expecting to lose some power from the fan but not 1/3.

This was supposed to be me summer fan but I'm a bit disapointed.

Just got me thinking, how effective your fan & filter combo?

I don't think you would notice a 1/3 loss with that monster, I'd be chuffed with that in my drobe.

Maybe I was expecting a bit to much from mine but dropping from 330 m3/h free flow to approx 200 m3/h with me rhino on is taking the biscuit.

Im shocked its a 1/3 i thought about 1/4, but i run less than i need. optimal for me is 1600cfm+ and i only use 1500- loss with filters so nearer 1000

hi forest, nah no flow meter, I've got a 5" intake fan running at 240 m3/h and no negative pressure when they're both on.

The Ruck does seem to run very quiet tho'. Which does suggest that it might not be running at full power

Once again thats in comparison with the other 5" fan, the tech specs state it should be louder.

I looking at getting a new CF and think I'm gonna get a Rhino, the question I've got is whether to go for the 6" 150mm x 600mm or the 150mm x 300mm.

The fan it will be connected to will be a 8" VK fan with a reducer to 6" (rated at 780m3/hr) although I do have it running a lot slower via my SMSCOM controller.

The 150 x 300mm is rated @ 600m3/hr so I guess that would be up to the job, but just wondering if it's better to spend a little extra to get the 600mm?

    Which one would you get?

This is a bad move. It will lead to a reduction in air flow and an increase in noise. The 6" duct has 44% less cross-sectional area than the 8" (i.e. it's only about half the size).

You should always match the ducting to the fan (or use ducting that is larger than the fan).

Well it shifts plenty of air, more than I really need and as for noise my setup is dead quiet, even all full speed it's quiet.

Well back to my question regarding size 150mm x 600mm or the 150mm x 300mm version?
