im planning a trip to the dam in february for a mates birthday. i've seen a hostel on the internet called the flying pig, just wanted to see if anyone had stayed there, whats it like? are you allowed to smoke in there?

Which one is it? I've stayed in the downtown one twice, first time I went was before the smoking ban and it was absolutely amazing, now you cant smoke anything anywhere apart from the tiny tiny outside terrace at the back. Apart from that, good service, friendly staff, cheap, and very central, only about 2 mins from the red light district. Also stayed at the uptown one which is right next to voldelpark, seemed nice too.

To be honest first time I went was before the ban, and second time after, and it really really sucks not being able to smoke in the downstairs bar area, they used to have a chill out bit to just have a spliff and that but you cant smoke there no more. Its good for its price, friendly staff and a clean place, great location too, but as I say, bit shit you cant smoke indoors, guess thats the case anywhere though..... Have Fun.

Flying pig is a laugh. I seem to remember tuesday is happy hour... All of tuesday (or thursday... I can't remember much from that trip......
