    Question Can it be done?

    Greetings,

Let's say you wanna grow 100% organically. Is it possible to do this without ever needing to add fertilisers to the medium?

Is it possible to make our own compost that has enough organic matter to last for several moths of use so that the only thing that'd ever be needed was water and a healthy microherd?

More specifically, if anyone here is doing that already would you be able to share the recipe for your soil mix?

    Thanks for reading.

im a firm believer that what a plant takes out of the soil it will put back in. im gonna keep all my left overs, stem leaves ect, and compost them for a later grow. i think that will be an interesting little experiment.

    Experiment section tabz
    Wack it up in there

Are you gonna try and make your own?
I would imagine that a load of dead garden material left to mature in a box is good compost, maybe that would be the key to organic growth, feeding off other dead plant material

Got me thinkin now, iv got the room to make a compost heap

cant see why a big enough pot with enough soil wouldnt supply enough nutes for a full grow.
I only fed my autos twice and could of not fed them at all.
I know its a bit different but gotta be same principal.

I am working on this myself, I am not sure a 100 gal pot will work as well as well as I was told a guy was using a 12x12 space for one plant and was 100% organic. He used at lest one year old horse manure, phosphorus Rock and would ash. I think if I got enough horse manure to compost, and added thing like red worms, Fish, and other compost with the phosphorus Rock and would ash, it could be done. I think like me having chickens around and pigeons I could use that as well for a good source of N. I really need to start working on this as well. Maybe I should start doing some of what I have been thinking of doing..

I know your talking about organics, But you also mention not adding netruents, Now some soils that I have use in the past, claim to have enough netruents to last 6 months, That is a miracle - Miracle grow Moisture controll, I used it with great results, But I did add netruents as I didnt read any of the info at the time.

I got a 100% organic feed. Maxicrop Seaweed extract it's called. Have ditched the other plant magic feed I was using.

Pot size.. of course.. DOH!! That'll help.

I think if this can be done I wanna do it. My first complete grow was done in batmix with some autos and I didn't need to feed those, save for some molasses. That was small harvest but was THE best weed I've ever had and much as I've tried I've never been able to repeat it. I now know the only reason they did so well was because they were 1/4 the size of what I grow now so they didn't need more than the soil had.

Solution = I need to use bigger pots and batmix fortified with something else.

That's got me a step further.

Thanks a lot for your posts guys they helped.

Anything is possible tabbathumps. Expand your mind and let the universe guide you to the impossible.
/me makes crystal ball hand signals and sweeps off to the left.

I try do organic tabbs. Bat mix , piss and a pot up is a decent way to go. And some organic flowering nutes if you can't pot up.
I found I didn't need much flowering feed tho, but nitrogen was required. That's where the piss comes in.
Its another completely useless post from....

I use to toss the Pigeon wast in my garden in the winter and can tell you, the next spring the plants really grew. If your wanting to go 100% organic and 100% away from any store bought Nuts start yourself a worm farm, compost everything and I think your plants would do very well if you used teas ect.. All my Pots gets red worms and about 50% compost, only real reason I feed them at all is I can't get everything done I need as it is and Nuts from the store is quick and easy. Oh don't forget Fish!! if you fish toss some in a bucket add water and I seen they say sawdust but I would rather use compost, but darn it stinks. I have some going now I plan on trying. Think I will add Pigeon to it and cover with compost. Now something I also used in Vinegar with the fish to brake down the bones, I've been thinking about adding it to all the plants but maybe I should try it with only one plant and stop giving it any store bought nuts??

Funny thing.. all the suggestions to my question are basic common-sense but for some reason not one of them was apparent at the time.

Big pots.. potting up.. compost tea.. <slapsownhead>

I'm smoking too much if I didn't think of those things..

Anyway.. that pretty much answers the issue so thanks again for your help guys.

Thanks for starting this thread Tabbatha, this is an excellent idea. I have watched videos on youtube explaining how to make compost tea, so I am going to attempt to avoid using any nutrients and see how the compost tea treats my ladies together with the 30L air pots - should be a decent experiment.
Once again, thanks for the outstanding thread, and thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge!

Yep, subcool's super soil (google it) is a well known recipe, you basically pot into a standard organic soil until your ready for the final transplant. For the last pot up just include a good thick layer of "super soil" at the bottom of the container for the plant to grow into and suck nutrients from. Lots of people claim to have successfully grown amazing flowers with this recipe and ONLY WATER, makes for good clean smoke...have yet to actually try it though. A note: the plants apparently will take on some interesting colors by the end but should be healthy nonetheless.

not sure what you mean but its easy enough to grow without having to feed, its just a case of repotting instead of feeding, decent organic soil from anywere would do job. As for making ya own its a piss about to get as much as u need.

    leafy

ps... iv grew weed without feeding any feed, only poroblem is you have to repot when in flower but despite what people say it isnt a problem if u know what your doing
