I suppose they should have a special spectrum. What should I be looking for? Is this labeled in a standardized way? I want to buy the type of pre-assembled bulb that screws into a socket, ideally.

If you are buying standard replacement bulbs for growing, I think your choices in CFL are better than LED. Most screw in LED I have seen are in the 3-12 watt range. You can easily find 43 watt cfl bulbs in most large chain stores, and can even pick up 55 watt big bulb that screw into a standard socket if you look for them. There are larger growing lamps in the 100-250watt range that you can order online, but it seems you are trying to source from a local store...?
As for color, I would expect LED will be labeled as other house bulbs are, in color temperature, where 2700 is red and 5500 is blue. Red being better for flowering, and blue being better for vegetative growth.
