Default Answered: exactly what is vegetation?

I was wondering by reading alot of peoples questions I am curious as to know what is vegetation? And how do you vegetate plants?

  2. "vegative growth stage is the stage in a plants lifecycle between seedling and flowering if someone says they are "Vegging the hell out of their plants" it means they are keeping the plants in the vegative stage for a longer time to get the plant bigger & get a bigger yeild at the end of flowering.

Basically keeping the plants light over 18hrs of light for a longer period then necessary so to get a bigger yeild."

I once read somewhere the technical definition of the "vegitative stage" is "the fast growing stage, once the plant reached 4 internodes, before starting the flowering phase"

Up to 4 internodes (pairs of true leaves from main stem), the plant is a seedling if from seed or fresh cutting if a clone.

The guys are quite correct though.

Oh, before I started growing, when I first heard "vegitative stage", I thought the guy meant what we call couch lock, where you are like a cabbage! Oh how times change.

Okay, so now that everything is set up, and you’ve properly gotten through your germination and propagation stages, then approxamitely 14 days after your seedling sprouted your plant will begin its vegetative stage. Your plants will experience rapid growth during the first few weeks of vegetation, growing up to an inch a day. Here are some tips to help you through your vegetative stage.

Make sure you are checking the lights and moving them so they are not burning your plants. Remember 2-4 inches is the optimum distance between the plants and lights, closer will burn and further away is ineffective (unless using HID’s).
