Default NL Autos by Royal Queen Seeds

    Hey hey!

So I'm growing some Northern Lights Auto's from RQS again and I thought I could put up a diary.

    My groom:

    Dimensions: 90x90x150cm
Light: 400w dual spectrum HPS at 30cm
    Ventilation: 310m3/h intake fan
    310m3/h cooltube fan
    190m3&100m3/h extraction fan
    Big fan for air circulation
    Medium: Gramoflor soil
Fertilizer: Hessi bloom complex and Hessi phosfor plus
    Pots: 4x 11l
Strain: Northern Lights Automatic by Royal Queen seeds
Temperatures: 22-30C(I know it's not the best but summer is killing me >.<)

So right now I'm at day 12 since I've put them into the groom. It's around day 17 from seed.
I had some heat issues in the beginning but it's kinda fixed now. The plants are around 10-14cm high except for one that is around 8-10cm :O Seems like it's a genetic thing because it has the exact same conditions for growth as the rest.

All in all it's going nicely. They have a surprisingly strong smell when you rub their leafs.

I will post some pictures tommorow when I go check on them.

    Have a nice day =)

So as promised here are some pictures. One plant has some heat damage but I expect it will heal soon =)
It's day 15 actually. Seems like I messed the dates up xD

As you can see 3 plants are about the same size. I don't know why the 4th plant is so tiny but I think it must be genetics.

I'm thinking about giving them some fertilizer for growth but I'm not sure if it's a good idea. What do you think? The soil itself contains some nutrients.

Thanks for the help and have a nice day =)

    looking pucker freaky,
i got a similar set up except using CFL i'm growing Afghan kush auto's though. from my personal experience i would start feeding them after about 3 or so weeks coz generally the soil has enough goodness in it to last till then. i didn't feed mine till week 5ish and i've had a lot of yellowing leaves and lost a fair bit of foliage. check my diary if ya like freaky, gonna sub up to see how you get on! happy growing

Thanks for checking in. I was thinking about feeding them today. I will give them a half dose of growth fertiliser.

I was also thinking about LSTing them but I'm a little scared that I will damage the plants xD

I just gave them some fertiliser. Let's hope they will be ok

    Update with pictures:

They are around 18cm high and really really bushy xD They are doing ok. The temps are holding at 26-28C which is great. I installed some new duckting and a new intake fan etc.
My feeding from now on will be: feed-water-water-feed.

Seriously you need to switch your lights off taking pics mate, Let the flash do the work, I love autos and love reading diaries, But man I cant even look at the pics, I tell you a really good way of getting clear pictures without switching off the lamp is to........ Either get in the tent and close it behind you, Or put your arm in with the camera in hand , Position the camera, and shut the door up as much as possible, Try it, Your be taking some proper clear pictures for every one to enjoy, From what i can see they look good mate, Bit of real color would go a miss, Do love a good old northern lights, Nice1

Sorry for the bad pictures but I cant make pictures with the light off because my phone(which is the only camera I have) doesn't have flash....And I can't go inside the groom because it's too small plus the door can't be closed just a little because the groom is DIY and it doesn't work that way xD
Will try to make some better pics next time.

And before I forget it's day 18 since they were put into the groom =)

LST is a must with cfl's especially in a tight space mate, but don't use pipe-cleaners though they retain moisture and can cause mold in the stem
your NL's are sweet and they are looking nice and bushy now

    Hey!

I have just checked on my girls. They are doing fine. The small one is slowly catching up with the rest =)
What makes me wonder is that there are still no white "hairs"....So they are still not in pre-flower mode even though it's allready day 20 in the groom and day 23 from seed.
Well the longer they grow the better the yield. Atleast I hope so

I'm also thinking about investing into a grow fertiliser. I use some generic no-brand universal fertiliser for growth. I don't really think it matters because the soil has/had some nutrients and they will start to flower soon anyways.
And then they will get Hessi's bloom complex.

And oh, the ladies are about 22cm high.

    So update time again =)

    Day 22

The ladies are doing fine for the most part. I've noticed some calcium defficiency so they got some with water today.
It is odd that NL auto's allways show this defficiency so early. Well anyway I caught it in time =)
They are around 22-25cm tall and really really bushy. One of them is kinda deformed and the "small" one caught up with the rest!
There are still no white hairs but they should appear any day now!

    Have a nice day )(

    Update time!

Sorry for not posting any updates for so long but there really wasn't much to see =)

    So it's day 32

The plants are really really bushy =) They are around 50cm tall and are heavy drinkers. They drink 2,5l every two days. They got a full dose of Hessi Bloom complex fertiliser a few days ago and they seem to be loving it.
I will add Hessi Phosphor plus in a week or two also. I still have a long way to go. Atleast 40days but I think it's gonna be worth it =)
They are droopy on the pics because they need water.

I'm very sorry for the bad quallity but I only have my cell phone camera which sucks.....

    UPDATE TIME!

Sorry for not writing for so long but I was crazy busy =)
It's day 72 since they were put into the groom and around day 77since they poped.
I just finished trimmin' the first plant. I will leave the other 3 till mondey or so.

I guess this plant will yield around 35-45g. It is the smallest of them all.

    Photo0031.jpg
There is a 1l bottle of wine next to the buds so you will have an idea of how much bud there is

Thanks GG. But this was the smallest plant. The others will yield more. I hope A LOT more

Since I have to give my other plants a little more time to finish I was thinking about doing a little experiment.

I have read many articles/threads about adding normal sugar or even honey to the water in the last few weeks of flowering.
Does it really work? Some claim it does others say it causes a load of problems.
What do you think? Should I try it on one of my remaining 3 plants?

So we are close to the final verdict!
The first plant yielded 52g(dry). The other 3plants will probably yield a bit more. The biggest plant should yield around 70g. So all in all I'm looking at a harvest of aprox. 200g dry. These NL Autos really ROCK!

So the final verdict is in.
    My 4 Northern Lights Auto's by RQS yielded...*tumtumtumtumtumtumtumtumt* 216,2g or 6,94oz!

I'm very proud of myself right now. I still consider myself a rookie so I'm very happy with the result.
I suggest to every new auto grower to try the NL autos from RQS since they are kinda easy to grow and give nice yields =)

Nice one mate you did well there! I've got a little multi strain grow at the moment with 3 plants under a 250w hps dual spec, one of which is NL by Royal Queen seeds
Hopefully it yields well like yours all did!
    Enjoy the smoke
