In my humble experience i can only tell you what i've encountered, am running a DR100 grow tent, 400W MH/HPS light with a 4" fan sucking through a carbon filter in my tent, and i have problems with high temps i have a 5"intake fan sucking in air from open window. Its only really a problem when its summer though, so it must just be on the limit of what a 4" extraction fan is capable of when i upgrade to a 600W light i will be upgrading to a larger sized extraction fan to deal with hotter bulb and any hot future summers. Hope it helps you buddy. Am sure someone will be along far more knowledgeable than me :-) toke on

Although a 600 Watt HPS will be OK in that space, it's right at the top end of the illuminance scale and the benefits over a 400 Watt lamp may be minimal (law of diminishing returns, and all that).
400 Watts might be a better move, and may give very nearly as good a yield for 50% less power usage and heat production.

Got an adjustable ballast so could always run it at a lower wattage
i run a 250 in a 60x60x160
with a 5" extraction and 4" intake
so you'd want atleast a 5" extraction mate

Buy a digital dimmable 400w ballast and you'll have a lot more control of your temps, also, a fan speed controller helps a shit load when growing in a tent.
