Nice thread. Very helpful as I live in a country with a 12-12 cycle all year round.

Has anyone already tested how much of a difference in yield it makes to veg for a very short period before flipping, say anything less than 2 weeks?
Does it still take 3-4 weeks for the plants to get into flowering or does this go faster after a short veg period?
As for efficiency, has anyone calculated the yield in grams per kWh of electricity used by the light of different lighting schedules (for both autoflowers and photoperiods)?

Obviously a short veg will be better than a 12/12 grow - that said, the plant will not flower before it is 'mature' which appears to be at around the 4(ish) week mark.
The time from veg to flower is a bloody mystery to me (but then again I'm an auto grower )
Efficiency wise, it would appear that a 12/12 grow would get around the same results as an auto & obviously, with a photoperiod, the options of larger weights by increasing the veg time are there but, on average, I grow at around .75/.8 g/w with my autos

But how long does it typically take to get into flowering after you've vegged for more than 4 weeks? If that then only takes 2 weeks then it would make sense to at the very least veg 2 weeks single they won't get into flower sooner.
If a 12/12 grow yields the same as an autoflower grow then it is much more efficient since you've only been running the lights 12 hours instead of 18+ hence my interest in knowing gram per kWh consumed by just the lights instead of just gpw.
And maybe heating should be entered into the equation as well because running autoflowers in winter on 24/0 helps to keep the heat up as well.
Ugh bloody complicated this, I just want to know how to grow the most bud for the least amount of electric consumed. Maybe I should just keep it simple and grow outside

Thought I would bump this up, I know there's at least one other 12/12er out there, this may help.

Every now and then I dip in here still because there's still something that I can glean from, and 12/12 from seed, or a "compressed veg" is something that I am seriously considering for 2021.
Just thinking out loud and from my own perspective, 12/12 from seed has the advantage to swap in plants as the mature ones are chopped, if someone had a rotation of plants, or say with with a flowering tent, or just want to keep the heat down.
A "compressed veg" of say 4 weeks then 12/12 would help with long flowering sativas being grown indoors.
But 12/12 from seed for some full blooded indicas would come up so small that they would probably not be worth the time.
