    Default Answered: Grafting plants

    Hi all,
I have seen on videos that You can graft several varieties onto 1 plant. This is especially useful if you want to keep several mothers and don't have a lot of room. The video I saw had 8 different strains on 1 plant! They also stay true to variety because I also saw how the same plant was put into bud and had 8 different types of buds on the 1 bush!
The problem I have is getting the grafts to take. So far I have not been successful once. Has anyone tried this and were they successful? I would LOVE to hear of a good way to graft successfully. I have tried several different ways. Is there a particular strain that would be a good donor plant??

Can't see why not mate. If one finishes before the other you just harvest that part of the plant and leave the rest to finish.

On my first few attempts I had the same problem, but I wasn't keeping the plants in a prop and I'm pretty sure that was my mistake, as soon as I tried with the plants inside a prop I was successful. You need to treat a graft just the same as rooting a cutting, i.e. a bit of rooting hormone and keep the humidity high until you see new growth, indicating union between the graft and the root stock has taken place.

When selecting a root stock I'd suggest a good yeilding strain, something that grows with a bit of vigour and produces a good root mass.

    Good luck with it

    Percy
