i have been trying out defoliation. im doing a scrog and found it helped develop branches stronger and longer as they were getting light the thick canopy denied them b4 removing most of the fan leaves especially older ones. my plants are now starting week 5 flowering have just gave them the last clipping as its all getting frosty so dont want to disturb them to much this late on in my grow. Im sure poet has a good thread on this subject if u run a search

I used it in my current grow and found it very useful for filling my screen. Clearing out the leaves around blank sports in my screen allowed lower arms that were blocked by the canopy come up and fill my screen

Was reading alot about defoliation lately and must admit it is a hard one.
Many good agruments for and against it.But what I've observed so far is that every time I've accidentally snapped off a leaf it took some time to heel the broken spot but afterwords it redirected the energy to the small top next to it and promoted it growth. After just couple of days the diference was easy to notice. That's just one positive aspect of defoliation.Removing big fan leafes also helps light penetrate deeper and for obvious reasons, it promotes the under growth.Air circulation is much better and helps keep the temps down.
The plants didn't seem to bother loosing a leaf from time to time so I've started getting rid off the leafes that shaded the most strategic areas (tops below). It doesn't take much (one-two leaf, every couple of days), to see a big diference.
Also, starting small and working your way up is the best way to learn in my opinion.
I truely believe that most of the problems starts when growers approach goes towards maximizing the cropp.
At the same time I don't doubt that an extreme approach can be extremely beneficial. It is all about finding what works best for your specific conditions.

    Peace...

Thanks, so far seems to be quite possitive, im down to 5 plants on my rhino grow and decided to experiment on one and basically stripped all but the new and small leaves off and the lower part of the plant went nuts.
Im gonna persist with it and practice with it, probs start and top of plant so I can see what light comes through as I go further down.
Thanks for comments keep em coming.

@denots.. I wouldn't say it's aggressive lol.... I'll probably get a bin liner full of leaves this time around but that's all part of the scrogging procedure
