It can be fixed and may even start working again when it cools down. I've had a few do it, it's a pain in the arse!! Give it half an hour and see how it gets on, i'm pretty sure 3 lights means dead tho sorry. Places like game will swap a broken one for a refurb one pretty cheap.

its been like this for days and still redi only got it really for the kids to watch dvd's and stuff, but being able to watch netflix was great might try game see what i can get thanks
I don't wanna jinx myself but iv never ever had a problem with any of my xboxs, my last one started packing up due to the age of it and then my eldest decided to pour his cup of tea over it, surprisingly that made it work better haha
I think 3 red lights is more than likely fooked
Sorry bunny, see what an expert says, there might be something you can do?
Peace
either way you can get a kit off ebay to fix it yourself for about 6 quid
search xbox red ring

The hardest part of fixing it is getting the case off, if you do try and fail then you will have a hard time taking it to a shop to do a swap as the security sticker has to be removed to open the case.
It could be a simple problem with the power supply as said but if not then the problem is a design flaw on the old 360's where they mounted the graphics chip in a silly place where it can overheat to the point of melting the soldering the holds it in place, as said you can get a cheap kit to fix this but I have never done it personally. Hope you get it sorted![]()
it can be fixed its just a complicated ball ache the main cause of the problem is Microsoft's shite design of the pcb and xclamps used in the console if the console gets too hot the GPU (graphics processing unit) can lift away from the pcb thus causing the 3 red rings also the cpu and ram and southbridge could have the same issue

you probably need some thermal paste to keep the processor cool
all comes in the kits
See, see I told you it was a rubbish console.
Wrap it in a big old bath towel and turn it on for an hour. This will cause the solder to reflow and in most cases the gpu will fall back into place and fix the issue. It is a temp fix tho and will most likely fail again.
PS3 FTW!!!![]()
the light green on the power supply, getting it open not sure if its like a pc but opened plenty of them or will it just be cheaper to buy a new 1 lol
Try the towel trick above first.
You'd probably be best getting a new console tho. What's happened is that the GPU/CPU have lifted off the PCB due to heat and the fact Microsoft designed it badly.
If you use the towel trick, the heat created will cause a minor reflow and the problem chip will fall back in place.
Don't waste cash on a repair kit. The towel trick is just as effective.

not cheaper but probs less agg
