and these are my employees, they live under some tiles and bricks... today couldn't find a lot of worms, but other days there are plenty of them!
they look healthy, in my opinion..

different kind of worms, dude. earthworms will end up all over your floor... need red wrigglers (a certain one of the three kinds of worms). hope it helps.

Wow, this thread is a wealth of info.
I've raised worms a few times but never got to a high producing cycle.
Red wrigglers are what I used and they will eat on the surface.
If I could get a system of worm casting that matching the cycle of my plants that would be awesome!

So im ordering my worms right now. (Im in USA) I have 3 heavy duty 27gal totes I want to make my worm bin/farm out of. Should I just use the basic technique with holes on the sides and top of the first bin and on the sides of the second? Its very simple but almost seems too simple..Opinions?

I was going to order some soil amendments while Im at it(Im going organic, need it for my soil/teas/worm food. What should I order to begin with for worm food? (Comfrey, alfalfa, crustacean meal?)

I wish I knew how to go about setting up a worm farm... It would save me a bloody fortune on my match fishing bait bill... I'm not joking either. I'm not 100% on the spelling but we call them Dedrabenahs little stripy worms sometimes called brandlings. If you have any tips on setting up a worm farm for them, I'd be happy to throw some in my grow medium.

Can you use the same worms that you can purchase from Walmart for fishing?
