Default Help with basic wiring needed asap please

How to wire this cable to this socket...?

Hi all, I'm looking for some quick help before the wife gets home to find the power out in the kitchen lol.

I have an armoured cable leftover from my shed so sticking it in a new socket to tack onto the cabin just built.

I got the cable off the old bex and noticed their are 4 wires from the cable (red yellow blue and black) but the blue looks to have been cut short. Then there was a blue wire loose in the plug with just the one end attached to an earth screw on the plug case.

Here's a pic of the thing... can you tell me which wires go where on a standard double socket plug please? Do I need to do anything about the blue wire situation?

All help greatly appreciated... Will be looking on YouTube till I hear back or find an answer

Might be worth noting the old socket was metal. New ones plastic/pvc

    Use red/live black/neutral yellow/earth, ignore/cut off blue completely

What is the other end connected to ?

Took pics so now know Black was neutral, red live, and yellow was earth to the socket. Think the blue wire is snipped at the cable, but another bit was in there from the cases earth. It was floating but may have come out of the other earth in the plug perhaps?

It's just the blue that concerns me... is it needed to earth the socket to the back plate of the socket box?

    Cheers for helping btw mate.

No need to earth socket at binding post, its plastic

As long as yellow is connected both ends to earth ignore the blue, may have been linked to old metal socket, although why I dont know why

Thats ok advice but.....should there be a cut made to the swa which ends with an electrified sheething? that sheething needs terminating at both ends to comply. Under taking these jobs in you're own home i hope lad? this needs part p to be legal. Best advice is buy another socket that teminates with the brass gland (on the old wires) and wire as standard inside the switch. However, what is that swa coming from? what size breaker etc etc? it's important....i mean i doubt it has a 5a breaker in the box? but still needs checking. i would be looking at perhaps 20amp minimum on that circuit (depending on your load of course) With a 600 watter and the other bits then a 20 would be fine. Sorry to be annoying but non of us want to see either a fire or you're grow tripping all the time. Bit more investigtion needed lad.
