Id maybe try upping it to 0.9 as they sound like they are eating more than they are drinking, nutes drop the Ph of your water so when they are feeding and using up the nutes diluting your solution the ph rises

Right mate that makes sense now, couldn't work out WTF was going on in the other thread...

i would top up with half strength nutrients between now and next res change and then up it to 1.9 or even 2.0... and see what they do, again i would only top up with half strength nutrients though as the ec has only dropped by 0.2

the ph drift is a good thing, it means that every nutrient is available at some point between the time it takes to drift... so the plants get some of everything they need as certain nutrients are only available to them at certain ph ranges, 5.5-6.2 near covers all those bases so you will be less likely to run into deficiencies than if you kept it at a stable 5.8... at least thats my understanding of it anyway mate.

and i am guessing you have a high background ec if you have them on 1.8 and they still want more

mix up some nutrients at half strength in something else, if your background ec is 0.6 and you are giving them 1.8 then thats 1.2 of actualy feed, so half of that is 0.6 so i would mix up my top up nutrients at 1.2 and use this between res changes to top up...

might be wrong, but thats what i would do as you wont starve or burn your plants.. i would change out the res when my original ec was halved, or once a week.. whichever came first.

the way i see it is that your ec meter only tells you the total amount, not what is there of each individual part of the feed.. so in most cases the plants are using more of one thing than another, so by either topping up with full strength or filling up the res with watwr and adjusting the ec back to 1.8 you could burn your plants as you would give them to much of one nutrient and fuck things up big time, if you use just ph'd water then you will be starving the plant of the bits that its using the most off.. so common sense to me dictates that half strength is the best bet.. as i said, might be wrong though.
