Right I've got the net over mine now and need some advice as not to fuck it up cos there's so much conflicting advice out there..

Say my main stem, once that's about 4 inches above the net do I just move it to the next hole or bend it so it's horizontal and aim it to a clear space? Then all the new branches off the main stem get the same treatment so that all these areas that normally don't get much light get a lot of light

Is topping a must? I haven't and if I've got to its gonna have to be now before its too late...

Cheers

You've got it, as soon as it pops up through the net just pull it back down and move it in the direction you want, it doesn't even need to stick up through the hole, it's a good idea to LST before you start with the net, get them stems growing out nice and early
Topping is up to you, depends on how much room you've got, if you top it that will encourage it to stop getting taller and start bushing out down bellow

Try and thread main centre kola to the outside of your screen, also get plants use to defoliation during veg, then at 2 weeks into flower I remove every fan leaf from the room ( very controversial I know but it makes best use of light

Low Stress Training
There's loads of articles on it just have a read around, it's basically just using string to pull branches to where you want them and letting light penetrate into the inside of the plant to encourage new growth

Got any pictures??

interested here in this, how do they finish up pal as in leaves?or do you continue to remove every leaf up until chop?pictures would be good if you have them to upload?

that appears to be quite conclusive that no harm was done!!!:Nice:much appreciated there pal,so do you continue to remove fan leaves right up till chop?
what set up are you using pal?looks a cracking grow

Basically everything under the net goes after you've finished training
Personally I think it's best to leave fan leafs on above the net, just tuck them out the way, the training continues right through the first half of flowering anyway, just keep pulling them down and moving them along

I remove every fan I'd say 3 weeks after flip or shortly after heads have shown and they never reproduce them, I'm in soil using canna Flores and pk 13/14 through entire grow, you can read online until the cows come home but nothing will replace your own experiences as every single grow in the world is different in some way, also if any tops run away and reach for the stars just go under the net and pull the stem down until its level with rest of canopy and crush the stem on the elbow ( hope that makes sense )

4 week ish in veg plus keep traing 2 weeks into flip ,there's 150+ tops in there so from past experience in the region of 25 cured , there coming down weekend so I'll let you know, there's also 3 strains in there and the back right plant was a funny one from the start so may effect overall results

Very nice fella, i have similar set up to you but don't come anywhere close to that, a lot of mine is underdeveloped underneath so been looking with great interest at these scrogs. ya reckon I should do my next ones (posted pic of em in my diary today )?? :D

Now it's time to put your big boy pants on and strip your babies completely of all fan leaf, it takes balls as its against all proven rules, good luck

Music to my ears, but it's good to get your plants used to heavy defoliation in veg but that's only my opinion, most people think its really bad practice but that room of mine is actually just shy of 1mx1m and there's a lot of bud there for my first attempt at scrog but I have always stripped to the extreme, the worst I've suffered is a few nannas right at the end where it's never caused any issues and as you will notice the room is carpeted and painted white,it really is as basic as you can be,after all said and done this plant grows at the side of the road in many countries it's really not that difficult, there's too many people who try to complicate things with too much complicated equipment for sale that is absolutely unnecessary to gain great results in very small spaces, but the best thing I ever bought was my 5.99 netting ,keep me posted how you get on , I've already got a few low tech mods in mind for this next one

Well I'm getting there... After everyone's advice on here I'm confident about scrogging and can actually see the benefits.

Here's where I am now..

I'm a bit concerned though... my main stem had to be squashed to get it to bend and it needs to be relocated as it's popping up a fair bit now but with how it is I don't wanna snap it off...

don't think you can see it in the pics but it's got a flat bend on it

Sadface

I wouldn't worry bends twists and stem pinching are good for your plants,it's like opening up the hard shoulder on the motor way in rush hour, there not plants there weeds that get trodden on by elephants in the wild ,any snapping bending and pinching just makes the plant more determined to survive, but on the flip side survival can mean nut sacks and bannanas, but just put it all to experience and the more you get away with gives us the grower more confidence in what we do,and bananas in my experience always turn up when the party is almost over ( shame there not one of my 5 a day ) anyway them babies look very happy under that net so good luck

Blackberrykush
16-09-14, 09:35 AM
Cheers mate...

The plant has recovered from the pinching, kinda.

It hasn't become un-squashed but it is fucking solid now and growing like a bitch so all must be fine

Looking good mate, nice work, you could start stripping the bottom bit now if you want, just do a bit a day over the 2 weeks and you should be good.

There's plenty to come off.. should I leave it for a few day? Just fine some defoliation to get some light to bud spots

Here's the mess below
