I'm sure there's something about aluminium giving off poisonous gasses if you get it too hot, so wouldn't let it get too toasty....but for temporary use use, it looks spot-on!

We used to use milk bottle tops on bucket bongs, you could even mould it so they screwed on and off! The business!

What he used looks like a milk bottle top so I would say aluminium. But if you are asking about the shop bought wire gauze, to be honest you got me curious, given there is blurb on the internet claiming to link aluminium to poor health.

Cant remember which metal it is gives off cyanide when exposed to heat. I shit you not. Possibly galvanised steel iirc but dont just get any old bit of metal and fill your lungs
