Hey,
Just wondering, when you have bought a cfl does the styrofoam inserts come sellotaped together?
Cheers
i've got a couple here (philips) and they don't have any tape. but they are pretty firmly packed. if your worrying about them breaking in transit etc, you should be fine.

No, Its just that I usually buy Envirolites and they come sellotaped at both ends of the styrofoam. I bought a Maxibright CFL the other day and it came with the sellotape 'cut'. As I took it out of the box for the 1st time the bulb slipped between the styrofoam and cracked on the floor. I asked the vendor and they said it due to thier checking process that the sellotape is cut. Surely they should retape the packaging?
bugger! yes i think they should have re-taped the packaging, are they denying you a replacement? (but still when i got my enviro i was really careful when opening it)
i thought you were talking about small cfls in your first post sorry:p

I am always careful however I have had so many CFLs that are taped together (all but this one) it didnt really cross my mind that it wouldnt be. In my mind if I was the seller and cut the tape as part of a checking process I would certainly re-tape the packaging.
They initially denied me a replacement but I have stated how the CFLs are originally taped by the manufacturer and so it should reach me in the same condition. Or atleast be re-taped or have a warning.
hope you get a new one mate:)
