Is there a reason to start your plants off in a small pot or could you just put your seedling into a big pot and leave it there for the whole grow?:stoned-smilie:

It makes sense to start seedlings in small pots, for a few reasons.

1. You can start many small pots under a lamp that only supports one plant in it's final pot, plus you can hold back a plants growth at any stage if you want to.

2. Watering is easier to get right in the right size pots.

3. Along the way, potting up also allows you to inspect root health and growth on a regular basis, putting you more in touch with your plant.

But starting them in huge pots won't kill 'em.

Maybe.

i start in large pots and prefer it as you never get any risk of set backs with repotting stress, and i've always had bigger healthier plants doing it this way.

having said that everything rabiez said is perfectly true.

but i would say if you have clones and you can use big pots, do so, with seeds tho its more of a headache, thats why i put two or three seeds in roughly a 20 litre pot
