Hi guys

Im in need of much advice, this will be my first grow ever. although not my first smoke that would just be absurd!

So the room im planning on doing this in will be the trusty "cupboard under the stairs". my gas meter and electricity cards are in here, would that make a difference? the room is about 9ft high sloping down to around 4ft, its 2ft wide and lets say 6ft deep.

i will be using lowryder seeds as there excellent noob seeds, and apart from what i actually want to grow im not sure about anything else. I understand lighting to an extent but as i have never done this before could do with some tips on that front. im not sure if i should use CFL or Some other type of light.

Also on the lighting front, i have no idea how to get a light in there. do i have to use a mains plug for CFL's? any tips would be awesome on this

another big worry of mine is ventilation, i have a little girl and another one on the way so i will need to keep the door shut most of the time, So im unsure about how to get the air circulating if i only use a fan and no extraction.

so yeah that is kinda what im looking for, please don't think im set in my ways about what to do with this room.

What would you do?

From time to time people come to read the gas and electricity meters. I think you'll need to find somewhere else I'm afraid...

yeah i was worried about that, but then i also thought i could just not let them read it...

you won't get away with having them not reading the meter, if you keep avoiding them they will get suspicious and probably take action some way or another, best find another place, buy a cheap cupboard or even build one, better safe than sorry mate

ok, i have found a new home. no pictures at the moment. the space i have to work with is
47cm deep
76cm long
and 60cm high
i worked out the amount of lumen's that i will need and its around 9000 lumen's.

i want to use CFL's for this but im unsure about how im actually going to plug them in. is there a connection and unit to take it to, lets say a plug socket or extension lead?

im pretty clued up about the genetics and care of the plant but im useless with electronics!?!

also how will i hang the lights from the top of the box, so that i can change the height when the plant needs it??

thanks for the advice so far, eventually this will turn in to a grow journal!

could you not partition off part of your cupboard coz the sloapy bit still looks like a good grow space?? with that sot of hight you dont just have to do ryders get sommit else in there too??
as for cfls if your going for a biggie ie 250w or 300w you will need a e40 lead which comes with a 3 pin 13a plug on it.. so just plug it in your timer n start growing are you gonna use a reflector? if so you can move it up n down on chain hangin off cup hooks or look at yoyos? basement lighting are v good for all this stuff good delivery too!! good luck:weed:

There ws an ad on tv last night saying u can register ur readin on the net and if they do want to come read it find out when and move ur plants it will only take them a minute , and I know u shouldn't mess ur plants about but they are harder than u think I had to pull a full room down and hide it all in the back bed room under a pool table whilst a landlord came and did a landlord check , we got about 12 hours notice me and my m8 shit ourselves.

thanks for the reply's guys, im going to be going to my local hydro shop in the morning as i have never been to one and need to check up on a few things.

im going to separate the cupboard into 2 sections but not sure what to use as i no MDF absorbs moisture quite a lot. And im still really confused about the lighting situation, if i buy a bulb what else do i need to plug it in(that's how simple i am)

what would you suggest in that room? and my house is a little on the chilly side so should i use something that throws out more heat then CFL's?

thanks
