Ok....so ive been lazy today and didnt go to the store. I will get pictures of these bugs here later tonight (waiting for my friend with his good cameras to come over) but those beauty plants have a few bugs in the soil that look like tiny fruit flies. They are starting to show up because the smell is getting stronger. Any clue? and solution?

if there flys you should see them buzzing round the room! hang some sticky fly traps

if there fruit flys/ fungas gnats theyll have already laid larve in the soil! a layer of perlite on top will stop them penetrating to a certain degree.

ime oxy will have no effect, let the soil dry out more between feeds/waterings and get yourself something to root flush with ie Neem, gnat off or pest off.......if your getting some bad smells in there you could have some root rot, the best thing ive used for this is cannazym as it will break down dead roots and turn them into available food, not cheap but does the job

hope it helps.Soj

I get fungus gnats everytime i use j arthur bowers soil, but aslong as you keep hitting them with gnat off (http://www.greenshorticulture.co.uk/details.asp?searchterm=gnat%20off&productid=563) every watering/feed for atleast 4 to 6 weeks you can slowly get rid of them. But don't be fooled to early and stop using the gnat off or the buggers will come back in force.

Like Seaovjapan has said, the gnats them self don't do any harm other than look unsightly. It's the larvae they lay that eats your roots, so gnat off seals the larvae's mouths closed so they can't eat and progress into adult gnats. https://www.thctalk.com/cannabis-forum/images/icons/icon12.gif

Warning, gnat off bloody stinks like old socks. :puke: https://www.thctalk.com/cannabis-forum/images/icons/icon10.gif

Still use sticky traps to trap any adult gnats and to help you keep an eye on the problem to see if it's getting better/worse.

Another good way to tell if they are still around is to put abit of potato peeling ontop of your soil over night and come back and check it the next day (24hours later) and you will be able to see any larvea on the peeling. https://www.thctalk.com/cannabis-forum/images/icons/icon12.gif

I had some smoke bombs once that wiped out a bug infestation. I just used 1 more bomb than the advised amount to make sure. You just get them on a flat surface, light the fuse and make sure the grow room door is shut with all the fans completely off.
