ASCI has re-veged his twice i think! Project Pheonix he called it and Project Pheonix II :D
Hazza, it's never to late to try and take clones. I mean what's the worse that can happen? They don't root!
Take some cuts from the lowest nodes and have a go, because believe me a re veg is a hassle to say the least. Obviously, if there's no other option it's the only way to preserve a strain.

I've taken cuttings upto 6 weeks into bloom and thay've rooted but thay can take a while(upto a month) to start vegging again, but the longer you leave it the less chance they have of rooting.

Before, halfway through flower :

Bit closer to the end of its "first life" :

After chopping the plant off back to first coupla internodes (some greenery and tiny buds still on plant), was then put back to 18/6 under 125w blue enviro and given weak "grow" feed, coupla weeks was sliced out of its pot with hand trowel, reducing rootball to about a 1/3rd of what it was, put in smaller pot with fresh compost, left on 18/6. Cuttings could have been taken within 3 weeks for this plant, during which time all new shoots even developed female preflowers, showing it was still true fem despite all the stress. 4 months on and many many "haircuts", still just with weak grow feed, larger pot, 18/6 125w blue enviro you have this (you can still see remains of old old browned dried up buddage where it was originally chopped) :

Yes it needed a watering :p

Plant is from a Mandala Tropical Safari Mix, re-vegged easily, quickly and health has not dimished at all from its "rebirth", Mandala genetics do seem very stable, robust and vigorous.
