I planted a germinated seed two days ago and already the seedling is growing fast and has come through the soil, standing at around an inch tall. I have exposed it to 4 hours a day in direct sunlight, 14 hours a day under a fluro light and 6 hours a day in complete darkness. Is this a good light cycle for a plant at this stage of its life?? I hear that it is bad to put seedlings in direct sun, is this true??? When will my seedling be mature and robust enough to cope with sustained periods of direct sun??? Is it ok to put it in the sun for just short periods to give it a boost??? By the way, is my seedling in good health at the moment?? How much should i water it??? Thanks, Al.

Your pics have gone!

What size (wattage) light do you have? I would recommend keeping it under that for 24hrs a day for about a week

What you're up to is fine, no reason to change the photoperiod - it'll just stress the little guy.

But, yeh, the photobucket hall monitors are onto you.
