I may just b a bit paronid but it looks like my 400watt son t plus (hps) light is flickering very fast & ther seens 2 be a blue glaze on the glass aswell is this normall

Get a new bulb then pal, only £10?

Or get two new bulbs so you have one on standby in case this happens again ;)

does it flicker all the time or just for a minute or so after starting up ?

That's a point MT. Mine does that; it flickers for about 30seconds.

it sort ov flashing all time but is a very faint flicker and very fast( just noticabal) what does the blue glaze mean. cheers tom&dan.

Could be that do-it-all multi ballast.. Maybe it cycles it's power rather than being specific like a fixed wattage ballast would be. Can you get your hands on a normal one to try the lamp with?

every body i no is using thers and most of my freinds brought the same ballast as me. most of them are using the same bulb as me aswell. cheers tom&dan:bong:

Well really until you find a way to test the different parts of your equipment, you can't find which is the problem part. The obvious 2 that I'd want to check are the bulb and ballast.. Buy or borrow another bulb, and ballast, to do some testing is my advice matey :)

could just be that the bulb/ballast combination is not a good one, not all ballasts are designed to work with all type's of bulb

yes it is the "FUNKY"lol mullti-wattage ballast as u put it. no answer of why the bulb has a blue glaze. cheers tom&dan:bong::bong:

My old 400w and 1000w powerplant ballast's use to flicker slightly,only just noticable tho but my new digi ballast doesn't do it at all.
