Hey everyone,
I'm a huge autoflowering nut. Just thought i'd throw up a few pictures of what i currently have cracking.
It's a test grow of a new breeders work that i've been privaleged enough to do :)
Both strains were bred with running auto sea of greens in mind.
Both are @ F5 and both show colour :) but the colour comes from different sources in each.
Anyway enough chatter, if you have any q's feel free to ask.
Hope you like, these pictures were from 2 or 3 days ago.
Cheers, MC

if your doing a diary of any kind man there's a 10 plant limit, this will get shut down unless you remove 26 of them!

I've deleted the pics from my album, but they are still showing in my first post.
I couldn't find the option to edit my post.

Tell me something dude, everyone bangs on about how autos do best under 20 - 24 hours of light, yet I did a Short Stuff seeds 'Assassin' and had it in my flower room on 12/12 all its life. It was in Biobizz allmix, and fed with Biobizz nutes. It yielded just over 2oz dry, which from what I've heard is a very good yield. Did I just get lucky? Has anyone done any trials to see if more hours of light really makes any difference?
Also, I'm intrigued to know what size tent your using? I'm guessing at 1.2m sq? Have you done a grow in this method before? And may I ask what your yield was? I'm assuming that judging by that picture in post one that a yield of 36oz is not unfeasible?
That could be a VERY efficient use of space and light...

@ Dazed and confused...
I have ran AF's at 24 hours, 20/4 and 18/6.. This current run is going to be 18/6 start to finish. And I havn't noticed considerable differences in the total outcome..
I think it is strain dependant.. I think some of the larger Auto's for example Mi5/Sour 60/Auto Assasin like you mention would probably do fine 12/12 from seed, and yield a respectable amount for the short time.
Whereas, and this is just my opinion.. some of the dwarf type AF's Blueberry, Hindu Kush etc the more indica dominant ones.. I think they would suffer or at least not reach their full potential given 12/12 from the get go.
I think the more light you can give them in the first few weeks will produce better plants, maximising the short veg and pre-flowering stage..
then if electricity is a concern you could knock the light hours down to 16/8 or 12/12 if you wanted to. I think some side by side testing is neccesary.. but it does make sense that the more hours of light you can give them in the flowering period SHOULD produce more yield in a quicker time.
And yes the figure you mention is what I'm hoping to hit.. I don't want to jinx myself counting my eggs before they hatch or whatever. but that would be a very nice outcome :)
Yes the space is 1.2 x 1.2m, this is my first time using a 600 and a tent, My old setup was a 2.5 x 2.5 (ft), using a 400, I would run Af's at 4 per square Ft (in smaller pots than these) and I would end up with about 12-14 o's
Hope that answers your questions mate.
@ good buddy - that sounds like a pretty tasty sunday afternoon treat :)

PS - the tent is really filling up now, a week after the first photos in here :)
I can't show pictures of that obviously but it's getting pretty jungle-tastic

Nice one dude, I'd be pretty interested to see how it looks. Maybe you could PM the picture? This is a grow I would like to see through til the end. I fully understand the forum rules, but this just looks like plain good sense in trying to maximise the yield from the area available. I'd like to do a similar grow in my 1m sq tent with 25 (?) 20cm sq pots, with maybe an auto assassin in each. The visual result should be very similar to my current scrog, but with a potentially higher yield, and finishing in 2 and a bit months, rather than 4 weeks veg, 2 weeks flip, and 8 weeks flower = 3.5 months total!
Even running the light on for longer, it'd pay for itself as you'd get nearly 5 grows a year, rather than 3 a year with my normal method!
Mitch lad, please keep me posted on this mate!

Yes mate, you've just hit the nail on the head as to why I love auto's.
(I love regular strains too though :) )
Even if you were a heavy smoker you could have enough yield to take a good few months off growing after doing a run like this. This isn't a commercial OP by any means.. it's just a test grow, using a lot less space and power than many do.. but the downside is plant numbers.
I think the key to this method is choosing the right strain, and figuring out the right plant numbers to get the result you want. Like Jorge Cevantes says.. plan before planting :)
If you choose an Af strain that has been bred using this method all along.. you can't go too far wrong.. the problem with some AF's in my experience is the amount of phenos you can get.. which can be a headache if you're planning to run them this tightly..
I don't mind some variation in pheno.. that can be nice.. aslong as they aren't polar opposites.. like getting a small dense indica pheno and a massive branchy sativa pheno out of the same strain.. it isn't going to work..(well)
As long as they conform to a pretty similar height and shape then i'm happy :)
Another good method for less plants, is too find a big, branchy, bush type Auto and run 16 in a 4x4 ft space but in 3 gallon pots. But i'd definetly recommend a 600 for light coverage and penetration.
I'll PM you something shortly.
Cheers, MC

Looking great mitch.
What strains did you use in your previous auto sog`s - also do you think it would be viable to do a seed run first with my choosen strain just to get the number off seeds i need ( it would cost a fortune for 38 fem auto seeds :).
There also seems to be varying opinions regarding sexing before transplanting - Do you start in final pots?
Those parabolic reflectors are great btw i bought one a few weeks ago and the light spread is amazing compared to most reflectors :)
Good luck with the grow mate - im subbed

Thanks skunksmoka,
This is my first real big 'SOG', however I have grown a lot of different AF's in varying ways and using a number of techniques, So i'll try to help you as much as I can.
I previously had stealth cabs, so i tried runs where I packed in as many as I could, 2 litre pop bottles start to finish works well for that, if you don't mind watering every couple of days.
Sorry before getting off topic I will answer your q's :)
I've tried Blueberry, White Russian, Hindu Kush, Short term amnesia, White Dwarf, Diesel Ryder, A few AF mix packs, Secret Citrus and now Pinkbud and Fruit Salad..
What I can say is if given an ample size pot.. (up to 6 litres) it can be very pheno dependant.. now having a stable strain (not many pheno's) really helps.. If you are packing them tight you really want an even canopy for the best yield, otherwise taller plants are either in the shade or the shorter plants are too far away from the light to reach their potential in flowering. What I can say now is that on my current run there isn't too much variation, out of 'x' number :) of plants I have just a couple that are very indica, and a couple that are taller - 85-90% of them are the same height and structure.
Yes I really recommend you to make some seeds, a) it's fun b) It will save you a lot of money in the long run c) You need not do a full pollination.. You can do selective pollination on a few plants and have more than enough beans to keep you going.. (Just pollinating 2 popcorn buds at the right time can give you 30-50 seeds. I reccomend you grow out a pack, choosing your best male and pick the female or two with the best traits for using in a SOG. Leave the top cola unpollinated though so you can still sample some sensi smoke from them to evaluate the potency/effect of each one.
Yes you're right, many people used to swear by Auto's needing to be started in their final pots.. I disagree, - whilst with fem beans this is a good idea - with regular beans unless you have a lot of space or another area, I say pot up.
That means start twice as many beans as you need (allowing for 50% males to be removed), first calculate the number of females you can fit in your space in their final pots.
Some people start in beer cups.. but I think you need to give them a little more - at least 1 litre to avoid stunting them (never stunt Auto's because they will not recover in my experience). Greens do some 1.4 litre extra deep pots which I think are perfect to start AF's in.
Yeh i really like the even spread of light with the parabolic - and you can get it pretty close.. for a 600 it is barely hot a few inches under the bulb.
I really want an Adjust-a-wing extra large though for flowering but they aren't cheap :)
Thanks mate anyways, hope that helps
Mitch

Should that be 36? 6 x 6?
interesting thread. I may have a crack at breeding a few strains of autos in may for the purpose of gaining seeds. What ratio of male/female do you tend to see when the seeds that you have made have shown sex. I saw you mentioned 6l pots, are those what you are using. You gotta love the parabolic, using one myself.
mitch_connor
01-02-11, 01:17 AM
flygerian88 - It is generally 50/50 ( this run was 60% female) But allow for a 50/50 and anything you get on top of that is a bonus. Of course it's abit of a lottery.. in theory your ratios could swing greatly one way or the other.
Yes, I started them in 1 litres, and when the females showed they were potted up into 6 litre. It seems to be a decent size for this strain and set-up so far :)
I'm liking the parabolic, it was pretty much the best bang for the buck reflector I could have got. I wanted a extra large adjust-a-wing but the budget wouldn't stretch to it..

I always thought autos were best, planted in their final pots, but I can see the reason behind you starting them off. Cos obviously you wouldn't have been able to fit all the plants in that space before they were sexed. Nice one
mitch_connor
01-02-11, 03:06 AM
Yeh man, its often said to plant them in their final pots for best results..
however many don't and still get nice results, some people start in beer cups and still get 3 foot plants.
The later an Autoflowering strain is known to sex the bigger pot I would give it to start in.
For a strain like these I'm running that sex at two weeks a 1 litre pot seems to be fine.
If you have the space though a big pot would be better.(definetly do it if your seeds are feminised)
I think the key is to not let them get stunted in any way, as the seedling/small veg stage is critical to getting a healthy mature Auto.
There is no recovery time like you would get with a 12/12 strain, so if you fudge them early on it could be game over.

Thems ticking along nicely Mitch! Any ideas from SGS how long these strains should take?
Also, I ordered 25 of these last night:
Big Buddhas' Automatic X Super Silver Haze 'reversed'
The past few years have seen a big development in autoflowering strains. Big Buddha Seeds have again come up with a new autoflowering plant with the intention of a fast flowering 'Haze' strain. The Super Automatic Sativa (S.A.S) is an autoflowering plant with a taste reminiscent of the Hazes' of Amsterdam. The S.A.S grows well in a good medium(soil etc.) with lots of air so the roots can stretch out to get a decent autoflowering yield which will blow you away with its quick performance....leaving you with a high ranking product capable of taking out any other strains!
The sweet, piney haze like taste is very distictive and with the fast finishing time, it is really time to......
STAND TO ATTENTION & SALUTE the 'S.A.S' !
Parents:
Big Buddhas' Automatic X Super Silver Haze 'reversed'
Flowering time: Autoflowering hybrid 90% Sativa 10%
Genetics: Indoors - start to finish 8 to 10 weeks / Outdoors - Beginning of August
Sensory experience: Soaring Sativa high with touches of euphoria
Smell: fruity , pine , citrus hazy , very reminiscent of cup winning strains of yesteryear, a smell that you know will send you on a journey!
Taste: sweet, woody, pine, fruit, silver haze
Hopefully should turn out a winner!

Thanks nice n easy, i've been meaning to comment on your AF grow too.
Dazed - those sound interesting, I never read anything bad about big buddhas stuff so you might be on to a winner.
To answer your q, The majority of these look like they will be ripe @ 60-65 days, there may be a few that will push 70 days, but will see :)

Is that directed at Myself or Mitch?
Either way I can probably answer. For me, it is an experiment. I'm not living too close to the bread line just yet, and I can afford to chuck £125 away for 35 seeds. I want to see if I can cram in a load of autos and yield more than my current scrog grow. Also, the auto grow will be done and dusted in 2.5 months. Going down the scrog route, or the mother and clones route will take 3.5 months+
It may be more suitable for me, don't you worry if it hurts my wallet a little bit.
As for Mitch, I believe that this current grow is a result of being asked to be a test grower for 'Secret Garden Seeds' and has probably not cost him a great deal.
Thanks for your concern though...

I have 3 growing at the moment as it's my very 1st grow and thought try somethin that is supposed to be more forgiving and never seen anyone else growing them, My oldest germinated and was planted 2-3dayz after Xmas, and the other 2 are only 8 dayz old, my 1st is starting to show the little hair's around the bud site's and started to smell when your up close to her, the stalk's have a nice purple hue to them but the leave's are just a nice dark green, the older of the 3 has had a rather crappy start to life, starting off under 60W flourescent bulb and 2 energy bulb's (103W each power output) now I have 2 x 42W Cfl's giving out around 203W off power each aswel as the 60W fl tube light, my 2 newest are getting leave's as big as the older, and seeming to be growing much better having been started and grown through so far with Baby Bio nute's all in the same bottle of feed, and every other watering has a touch of organic tomato food added into the mix, PH is better now also sitting between 6-6.5 whereas when I started the oldest sh was flipping between 6.5 and 7, what can I expect to yield? And what is the best strain so I can buy somethin different next time, anythuin with potent smoke and a high(ish) yield, will be buying them Fem Auto's tho so I can stick them in my rear yard soon as I've build my new Fence as I have tree's surrounding at the moment to keep out prying eye's, cheer's fella's Nice Grow mitch looking very nice,

newbie mate, you could have posted that in the general smokers forum, general growing forum, or even in the growing from seed section. It's a bit strange dropping that in on a grow diary mate, so can we keep it on topic please (Mitch's grow). Thanks.
As for your question, I doubt you'll yield much mate, an oz combined off all three would be very optimistic. Ditch the baby bio, and get some Tomorite nutes (for tomato plants) its cheap as chips

newbie...
Make a thread about it i'm sure people who know the strain will give you some advice.
Spaces between sentences help aswell :) my eyes hurt reading that.
But in brief.. I don't think there is one 'best strain'.. some peoples rubbish is another mans treasure.. (if that analogy works here?)
Just research whatever takes your fancy.. Some of the BIG companies put out auto-lines that don't in fact autoflower. I'd suggest going for something solid like LR2 or AK47
Yield depends on alot of things.. Environment/setup.. strain.. how well you grow it etc etc

Ok guys, Little update..
It's day 42 for pinkbud, and day 44 for Fruit salad.
The first pistils are just starting to go orange.. If you ever grow these now would be perfect to pollinate for max seeds :)
They are getting smellier in a good way. Still a good few weeks left to go so hoping for some good bud growth this next week or so.

looking awesome Mitch, your my new hero, and thanks for the head up for when to pollinate.
mitch_connor
15-02-11, 04:11 PM
no worries smashed.. it varies a little by strain but weeks 5/6 is generally where you want to do it if you're going to pollinate a whole plant. (AF's)
If you just want to pollinate some lower nugs for a little stash of seeds you can leave it a little longer, until say the start of week 7 from sprout.
Normally though just watch for the first pistils to turn orange and thats when you want to hit them with pollen.
cheers, mitch

Thanks dude, yeh i haven't killed them yet :)
I took some pictures earlier of my favourite smaller pheno plants.
These are both around 25cm tall, The purp one is fruit salad (it's actually the most red/purp rather than cadbury purple type purp) it is going to mega dense by the time it's finished so i'm looking out for mould when i check her.
The green one is Pinkbud, one of the few green pheno's in there. It's is pretty much all bud.. or will be by the time it is finished up. Both are starting to put some nice frost on for me :)
It's day 44 from sprout for the PB and day 46 for the FS from sprout.
cheers for now, MC

Sexual as always mate.
Remind me again, what size tent is this lot in, and what do you use to circulate the air?
Excitin stuff on IC, Rezdog kicking out some genetics to M Danzig, and SGS. You might be a very lucky tester again eh? AF Chemdog? Nom nom nom
mitch_connor
16-02-11, 11:31 PM
It's in a 4' x 4' tent mate!
I've got one of those clip on fans for circulation, and I'm using a 4" temp controlled Ruck for extraction.
Yeh that would be killer dude! I know he'd do a good job :) It's a big project though!
I fancy working on some of my own stuff, but i'd deffo love to test for him again.
Depending how they do it, he might do a beta list like REZ does for his testers? Get some grow diarys going mate this next year and you might be in with a shot.

Busy as fook mate. To be honest, I've only ever grown Greenhouse seeds, and Short Stuff seeds. My current grow is Big Buddha Cheese, and I was looking at their S.A.S auto for the SOG. They sent me a 25% discount code, so I took the plunge and spent £125! LOL
Every bit of BBC I've smoked has knocked my socks off, plants are very healthy and very uniform. So yeah, so far, I'd rate them highly. Also, the Freeze Cheese I ordered (10pack) had a couple of slightly white seeds, I emailed them and they sent me another 10pk for gratis! So, yeah very impressed with them! 2011 will be very cheesy here lol!

I don't usually post on grow diaries but that fruit salad looks beautiful mate.
I have just had another quick scan through this thread and don't think I saw the answer to this. What nute's and soil do you use? do you use any boosters or PK 13/14 etc.?
mitch_connor
19-02-11, 08:41 PM
Hey dude, no worries, cheers for popping in!
I started them in biobizz lightmix until sex, they were then potted up into all-mix.
I use biobizz nutes, just grow and bloom.
And I got some molasses about a week ago which they have been having too.
The smell in there is amazing, I am loving them them both. I have a green fruit salad that is very frosty and has the sweetest smell!
The pinkbud's have looser formed buds, bud they bud 'wildly' is the only way i can describe it versus the pinkbud that forms smaller but denser buds, but as they get towards the end they really pack it on and you get a lot of foxtailing. (so i'm told) :)
I'm not sure when the fruit salad will be available commercially as I think SGS wants to narrow down the pheno's further before releasing it properly.

hey everyone,
Just some update pics from today, Day 55 for PB, and day 57 for FS!
Picked two plants just to illustrate the difference in the buds, the FS is much more compact, the PB is airier but bigger.. I think these plants will yield the same amount!
Also bad news, had to chop one little plant as I found some bud rot.. my fault completely, it hasn't been much under 60% RH in there recently.. so I paid the price and lost a little bud.
Still salvaged a decent amount though.

update time!
Day 61 for Fruit Salad, 59 for PB. I had the scope out on the FS earlier and it looks like my 65 day estimate looks accurate for how i like my smoke :)
Anyway, I photographed 3 fruit salad, 1 deep purp pheno which is 44cm tall, 1 light purp pheno which is 47cm tall, and one of the few true green phenos which was 40cm tall.
Also a green pinkbud pheno.. which is 45cm tall

Yep dazed, that's what i'm hoping for too bud :) It was actually less than a third of the total plants, i'm not very good at fractions.. but it was 27% of the total number
The weighing was done in that box popped on some kitchen scales, hope it is accurate enough!
Easy - Thanks man, for sure i will update as I take the rest of my harvest. Pinkbud is available now.., Fruit salad i'm unsure of. but soon hopefully.

27% you say? So 27%=800g, 100%=2963g. 2963g @ 25% or 2963g / 4 = 740.75g. 740.75g / 28g = 26.45oz!
26.45oz as a guestimate!
Nice if it comes off! Is it a 600w light your running mate?
mitch_connor
06-03-11, 11:51 PM
that would be a sweet total if i could pull that off.. :)
but i'd be more than happy with 600g for this run..

thornygrass:
Are you growing Fems? or regs?
That will probably dictate the soil you want..
If you are growing fems you can give them a large pot from the start.., if you grow regs like me, you'll want to pot up when you have you fems confirmed.. that's what i do..
So i start them in a seedling/cutting type mix (biobizz lightmix) which sustains them for the first 2 weeks with just water.. then they can handle a stronger soil when they are more established..(allmix)
Some people can sprout into all-mix with no problems, but personally I don't like to risk it as I have started AF's in it in the past and they got stunted/burnt.. which meant i scrapped them.
I only use biobizz soil, so i can't give you advice on any other brands really, other than I would cut a stronger soil with a weaker one if you aren't transplanting them up.
Not that i mind answering your q's but you should start your own thread in here, you will get more and good advise from elsewhere

WOW!! :jawdrop:
Have read your diary from first post to last and am speechless on your babies
Me and the Mr.Man are planning a little auto grow in a 1.2m x 1.2m tent using pinkbud and MI5 under a 400w or 600w HPS.
If we can get anywhere near the beautiful ladies which you produced we will be a very happy household :joint:
Look forward to any new grow diaries you have coming up.

@ neph - I will have a dry weight update very soon, just sorting out the pics now. they are all curing now, so a smoke report will follow in about a week
@ have1 - yes fully AF, shows sex around 15 days from sprout - ready to chop 60-70 days. I don't want to break any forum rules with a link, but google Secret Garden Seeds and you should find the info you need.
@ mrs S - thanks, I don't think you will be dissapointed. Just keep them fed and watered and they do the rest for you :)
Will have a new diary of Secret Citrus AF's coming soon.

Mitch, you said you'd probably run the AF's in smaller square pots on your next run, what litre capacity would those be? Would 6 litre pots be ok, they're roughly 18cm in diameter, I wanna cram a few autos in for my next grow.

I'm doin my 1st grow as we speak with auto's, when is best to harvest, all you can see is crystal's covering the bud's some part's seem like there are double layer's, there's lot's of little red hair's on the bud's now aswel, do I wait until the hair's start to shrivel or do I harvest before hand? I'm rather anxious to say the least I've took a tester bud off her a few days back and she got me so fookin high and tbh I'd b more than happy the strength she is, look's like there'll be a good hlf - 3/4 oz when she's dry which I'm pretty proud of, help advice would be great there's a pic from 3day's ago in my album if anyone want's to check her out, I trimmed the leave's about a week ago and bud's have started filling out since cheer's in advance.

only way to really tell mate is to get a mini scope to look at the trichs. - about a fiver from maplin, but i think they sell them in the thc talk shop too? Or if you plan to grow it out again, stagger your harvest and keep samples to test from the different days. It's quite a personal thing how you like your smoke.. what is great for one person isn't always the same for others...

Yeah there's still plenty of the white pistol's coming through, she's been in flower for around 2month's now (actually producing) so wasn't sure when to chop her down ready to replant. I've been told the best way to cure is to put it in a air tight jar (I have a douwe egbert's coffee jar) and leave her in the grow room at the cooler side and breath into it once a day :s does that sound rite?

First page I think it was but may not have been you then. I'm growing in oxypot dwc at the mo. But I was planning on a few square 6l pots from greens to have a little 4 plant sog in a corner of the tent to grow some jock horror to get a quick sativa turnover. Would 6l pot be ok or would you say start off in small pots and then pot up to 6l pots after 2 weeks.
mitch_connor
20-03-11, 05:27 PM
the 6 litres from greens are the ones i use.
Which i think are fine start to finish, for most AF's, bigger AF's i would give an 11 litre pot.
If you're growing regulars though and 4 is the number of fems you need, i would start 8 in a 2 litre pop bottle and then transplant to the 6 litre at sexing.

Yeh douwe egberts jars are good, nice coffee too!
Just rinse and clean it well in advance to get rid of the coffee smell.
Keep it somewhere cool and dark though, so not in your tent.
Open for a few hours and mix the buds around abit, for the first few days whilst moisture is still being drawn out. Then you can keep it closed opening once a week or so after that, if you still have any left :)

Cheer's Mitch, wish I could share some with you guys on here, seem's only right since I'd probably killed them all off without the help from people on here, what's the best auto strain for yield and speed? I've not been able to find much telling me online, so might aswel ask someone who know's they're shizzle :D
mitch_connor
20-03-11, 06:02 PM
Its usually abit of a trade-off, smaller plants will finish quicker, but ones that go 10-15 days longer will generally produce more.
You could go for a super auto but they run about 100 days#
Something like Pinkbud is the opposite end of the scale - 60 days, but smaller plants so smaller yield per plant.
In between at 65-70 days i would suggest lr2, sour 60 or secret citrus
mitch wich lighting do you use and wot was the avrage yeild per plant with the pink bud

that was a fantastic diary mate, some serious bud porn :D i would be happy with one of them colas as a whole plant lol :D

have1 - I'm sorry I didn't really weight each plant individually, and the Harvests were mixed - But the overall average was 20g a plant - which was obviously in pretty cramped conditions.. so i think if they were given more space & light the individual plant yield would be higher - easily an OZ each I would think.
I used a 600w which was run on an 18/6 photoperiod.
Needsmust - I know Pinkbud is available, and has been for months. It's just the Fruit Salad that I got to test that hasn't been released yet.
Yep from reading the site and talking to SGS the breeder it seems like they have a lot on there at the moment.
The Fruit Salad x Pinkbud cross sounds like it could be really nice :)
Rogermelly - thanks dude I was really happy with the outcome too!, it was more of a photo show than a diary here, but i hope i helped a few people out along the way

well off my 36" blue mystic auto I've got around hlf ounce (est dry) I've between 1/3-1/2 filled a douwe egberts jar and there's still couple bud's been left on and a few new bud site's so she's back in there for a few more day's see if anythin good happen's, quick dried a bit of her aswel, and very stoned off a joint, well happy should keep me goin the 2week's til the other 2 are harvested (although 1 of them is lookin very poorly indeed, since sum1 turned ventilation off and she was sittin in 32 centigrade temp's but the bottom few set's of leave's (the ones that we're actually left) have started to lift back to the normal position's from bein downward facing :s, goin onto SGS for my next order and maybe try fittin 4 square pot's in the cupboard when it's empty and add another 42W CFL (Ionly have around 18" sqaure grow cupboard for now), Well I'm gonna finish this joint and have a coffee (to clear another Jar to be soaked in plenty time) Catch ya'll later good luck with all your grow's :D

Mini update - made some hash with my trim.
Used a super budget method, cost me £4 in equipment, the trim was free :) got about a quarter of very nice smokables. Took some effort though!
PB hash - This is very very sticky, easily shapeable - Rolls into a ball just inbetween my hands
Fruit Salad hash - very crumbly, and fluffs out very nicely, also smells very fruity!
PB/FS Mixed hash, this was from a second extraction, but even this stuff bubbles when you take a flame to it!

Ok so finally i have had some time to do a little review/smoke report in one and get my thoughts down.
PINKBUD Mini Strain Guide by Mitch Connor.
I really enjoyed growing Pinkbud. They weren't demanding for anything, pretty much grew themselves. Just water and feed.
I was using organic nutrients, but they never showed any sign of being (over)sensitive to nutes
It seems to start quite slowly days 1-10
by day 15 you will be able to sex the vast majority of them.
They go through a small pre-flower sex, and then bud 'wildly' that's the only way to desribe them.
For the size of them, pistils and bud's form everywhere.
Warning! - Pinkbud Reeks. It pays to have good odour control with these. It might of just been me but there were a few poopy smelling phenos.
The buds are quite airy - which may not be a bad thing - in high plant density and high humidity (60%) there were Zero signs of mould for me.
And again although on the airy side, the mass of the buds is big. So when you weigh up the two they are still more than decent.
One tip: If you are growing PB in a SOG, where you might be tempted to lollypop them, I wouldn't, they aren't really branchy, but any branch they did put out, they REALLY made use of, either becoming a fat nug, or a secondary cola.
Also you will see this, but the Resin Production of PB is great, the Resin is ultra sticky, you won't be able to trim much more than a whole plant without scraping your scissors clean. Fantastic little hash plant in my opinion.
All in all, pretty accurate description by SGS, in my setup the max height of PB was 55cm - but that was only a couple of phenos.
PINKBUD SMOKE - BUD
Smoke reports are sometimes a little subjective, but i've confirmed with friends that have sampled PB and we mostly agree.
PB for me is great, cosey weed. Sunday afternoon, get on the sofa and watch a Documentary about animals or volcanoes smoke
Stock your fridge too.
It's not zombifying, can't move weed by any means. But too much and you will feel lazy.
I sometimes have difficulty sleeping but since this harvest, i've had a little doob in bed and been out like a light, but still felt fresh in the morning.
I would think that for someone with any ailments, this could be a great medicinal candidate to try.
Excellent bag appeal (for those who that concerns)
PINKBUD - Hash
PB hash was oily, sticky and easily shape-able by hand.
It may just be that I haven't smoked hash in a long time, but it was a very strong high in hash form.
Giggles, mad appreciation for tasty food and I wasn't leaving the house or going anywhere after smoking it!
Fruit Salad - Strain guide
I love fruit salad.
It shows really good vigour in the first few weeks,
Where it differs from PB is the bud structure - overall I would say fruit salad is medium density buds - not rock hard but not mad airy.
It builds it's flowers steadily and consistently over the short cycle.
Pretty resistant to over nuting - I only had to back off and give plain water for one feeding mid grow, but that was my fault for coming on a little strong too soon with food. Given it's blueberry heritage I think it faired well.
The smell is also less agressive - just a sweet and floral smell throughout the flowering, I don't think you would PIN it down as 'that's weed'
After drying and a cure it is relatively low odour - which is good for stealth in my opinion. But still fruity hints emerge if you give your nose a second
FS stood up to high humidity with just the smallest amount of budrot on one plant. But in my setup at that time of year I am thankful and lucky as it could have cost me alot if running something else.
If I grew these again in a high plant density environment, I would be tempted to take off the bottom sets of branches before full flower kicks in. I'd let them finish stretch to see which ones might be useful to leave. But the main focus are the colas of this strain. They are long and tight with buds.
All in all very nice strain, I'm sure when SGS gets it too 100% of how he wants it, it will go down very well.
Fruit Salad Smoke Report
This was on the different end of the scale to Pinkbud in terms of effect.
I found Fruit Salad is a euphoric/creative 'high' the kind that would brighten up a rainy day.
No parranoia,
Good, talkative 'party weed'
It also gave me the urge to build things or if i had to decorate or do something monotonous I think it would ease that burden and time would go by a lot quicker!
FS Hash -
While the resin is different to Pinkbud, it does produce a nice amount of resin for hash making.
The hash is soft and crumbly but I couldn't get it to press together for shit! Tried warming it/pressing it, then freezing it and still no luck?
But again in a concentrated form it is excellent.
The hash still retained it's fruity odour which I really like.
If anyone saw my PB bud + FS hash pic, that was an amazing combination to smoke together. Really balanced high.
And just incase there are any naysayers lurking. I have been a long time smoker, several trips to amsterdam and able to get hold of some elite smoke, I really rate both of these strains.
Combined Summary of SGS
Germ rate - 100%
Female rate for me - 60-70%
100% Autoflowering
Fast - Sprout to harvest was under 70 days for me. If i had the space to dry in one go, I could have taken them all @ day 65 without any worries.
Issues - None to report (other than the Budrot, which was my own fault)
I don't think I really need to mention the colouration as it's obvious from me photographing them to death that they are super colourful.
Excellent ratio of coloured plants, It was a role reversal in this run, with the green pheno's becoming the novelty ones
So all in all I had a good time with these plants, I think if people grow them wisely they will not be dissapointed, following a few simple steps even a novice could do very respectibly.
And just incase it wasn't mentioned, although I got to try the Fruit Salad for free, I paid for my Pinkbud, and don't regret that at all. I do regret not making seeds, but that wasn't what this run was about
Also my friends have said this has been the best AF run in terms of the smoke that I produced, and I have grown out quite a few strains in the past. It could have been the setup change, but i'm more inclined to think it was the strains.

Thanks bobby.
I need to edit the report, as I completely forgot to mention the taste/flavours. Will get to it this evening hopefully :)

Can't edit my Report post but this is what I was going to add!
Pinkbud Taste/Flavour - The taste of PB was more of a Sour/Skunky mix, more of a 'classic' cannabis flavour in comparison to the FS.
Fruit Salad Taste/Flavour - The taste of Fruit Salad, was as you might imagine fruity Little sharp hints of citrus, a kind of mixed combo of summer fruits, and pheno dependant some almost floral flavour - but not over powering in the slightest.

I love the colors of these plants great work! I wish I could get my 400watt HPS to produce like that, must be the genetics as I know Im pretty good at growing, well NON-Autos so far anyway.

They were under 600w after the first 10 days,
Although I've had my biggest buds from a 400w in the past I think, but the extra light coverage I can get with a 600 means I can run more plants for a higher total yield.
cheers, mitch
