am currently 8 weeks into my first autoflower grow, i am currently using a 600w hps light for growing them bt for my next grow which wont be autos im thinking of using a 125cfl blue for vegging and 2x 125cfl red for flowering. would there be much of a drop in tempreture in the tent as it stays around high 20 with the hps bulb. also would changing to cfl affect bud size in any way. or wud i be better using the 125cfl for vegging and using the 600w hps for flowering

whats the advantanges of the hps over cfl??

Hps will give you more dense buds, better penetration, more lumens per watt.

I only ever use cfl for seedlings and rooting clones. They're very handy for stealth grows in pc towers and little chests of drawers. The hps will yield more for sure. It puts out more heat though. Watt for watt hps wins.

As said mate, going back to CFL's from HPS is back-tracking not progressing. You won't get the same yield.
Temperatures in the high 20's with the HPS is fine mate... These plants grow wild in hot countries with temperatures in the mid-late 30's, so don't worry too much about the 'guidelines'.

you could scrog but like people are saying making that much of a drop would servilely piss you of come harvest time.i went from 2 x 400 hps to 2 x 250w cfl and compared to my old hps set up its shit

Vegging under CFL is ok as you can get the bulbs really close and not burn them.

Flowering under HPS is still the way to go!

having growen previously with CFL's, I would consider it prudent for you stick with your HPS...... much better bud quality and yield

Can't believe you have shelled out for all the gear (inc the 600 hps) and have no idea about this sort of shit rofl...

Sorry, maybe its just me but I find that funny.

For one thing the fact 600 is a bigger number than 125 in terms of wattage consumption may give you an idea that one is going to kick out more light than the other.

You could use the cfl for seedlings/early veg... after that lose it and just use the 600.

Just thinking of using the CLF for vegging just to cut down the cost on elec a bit and then use the hps for flowering.
