Joint Doctor - Diesel Ryder

I was gifted these by a generous donator. They were seeds grown out from a pack of JD's, and the best bred through again so make these seeds.

I'm going to be doing the same as well, so hoping I'm popping 10 seeds and hoping for 5 females. 1 will be to pollinate, and the others for weed. I'm also going to be keeping some of the pollen from any selected male to breed with a regular plant after Christmas & make a start on my own auto. I'm still not 100% which plant that will be yet.

Anyway, usual 20/4 under my 250w hps light. DR60 60cm x 60cm x 140cm Tent. John Innes No 2 Soil. Some new nutes (though I haven't bought them yet. I may just go for my usual Ionics). Rhitzononic, Cannyzym & Final Phase.

I'm only getting the thread up for the moment. I'll be away for a few weeks holiday & then I'll be straight back into my new grow the day I come back again.

Resinous, tasty auto-flowering authentic strain. This long awaited third instalment, in the Joint Doctor’s work, is a potent, extremely resinous and tasty auto-flowering plant. An inbred cross of Soma`s NYC Diesel and Lowryder #2, this strain normally produces one main cola with less branching than Lowryder or Lowryder #2.

Unlike most other Lowryder hybrids created by amateurs, in the guise of new seed companies, this strain has been worked on by the Joint Doctor and mastered over the course of some years to ensure the perfect hybrid that maintains the excellent taste and effect of NYC Diesel whilst taking the auto-flowering genetics.

Typical of the Joint Doctor`s strains, Diesel Ryder flowers automatically at 3-4 weeks and finishes in 8-9 from seed. A small proportion of this strain will grow significantly taller than other individuals. This is a good choice for closets and small indoor set-ups but please note plants do give off a powerful odour during flowering.

Ok, back off my hols and put 10 seeds into paper. 2 days later and 7 have come up, 1 is not in good shape & 2 undecided. I've stuck another two seeds in to soak just in case & put the 7 into my first 2lt pop bottles to start off.

Lights will be coming on in a couple of hours for testing the bulb, timers etc, but we are a go. :)

Back with another update. No pics as yet, but I'm not going to bother with seed shots etc as I can't be arsed.

At the moment I've only got 2 plants above soil. There were a couple of others, but the seedlings were very poor condition and also died, none of the others made it above soil. I've put the last 2 seeds into pop & we'll see how these go.

No matter about the seedling rate, but it does put me in the unusual position of hoping for as many males as possible. If these (possibly) 4 plants are male, or there's at least 1 good male I'll be continuing with collecting the pollen. I've got 3 femmed blueryders or something like that which I'll put into soak tonight, and maybe some of my own widow ones just in case no decent male turns up.

Day 5'ish.

Got enough life now to upload the first couple of pics. We have the following plants in action (though not all on the shots).

2 x Joint Dr Diesel Ryder. (The two in the single shots). I have one other that has just been sitting there doing nothing for days now. As soon as the tail popped out there was no more action. I'm still watering it in a root riot cube to see if I can do anything, but little odds now. Of the DR's 1 is going quite well, and the other is looking a little buggered. I'm letting it run on to see what happens. I've seen decent plants pick up before.

I'm hoping to have enough regulars there to have a decent male. A decent Diesel, White Dwarf or even the LowRyder 2 male will be fine - though in that order.

Another update, about day 14 for the big diesel ryder, 9 for the smaller one, and a week or so for the others.

The older & larger diesel is shaping up to be a nice plant whatever the sex of it. The other plants are going nicely apart from the LowRyder2. It is going nowhere fast, but I'm keeping on with it till it shows. No feed as yet. I may put a little rhitzotonic in the next watering to help the rooting system, but that'll be it till repot time.

Both Diesel's have now shown themselves. One of each, with the bigger plant being the female. I don't know if I'll breed with the male Diesel, it did well to get this far but I'll see how the other plants sex out before making any major decisions. The female has been repotted into the 8lt finals.

Repot day.

I've enough plants showing sex now to put what I want into the larger pots. In the large pots we've got 1 Diesel Ryder at front right, 2 Blueberry at front and rear left, and the AKxWidow cross at rear left. Repotting went ok, though there were a few roots sticking. I think they'll be ok though. There is a Blueberry in the little pot in the middle. I'm going to use this for seeds - Blue Diesel's sound like a good thing to me. Im still waiting on the LowRyder2 & the Dwarf to show, but it makes no difference now.

Plants in the larger pots have had a feed of rhitzotonic, the ones still in the little pots have had a first 1/2 feed of veg. Next feed I'll put them onto a little bloom.

Losing track of the days now as I'm in different stages for all of them.

We're fluffy tops on the Diesel & the three Blueberries. The White Dwarf has just shown today as a fem, the LR2 is still another week away & the AK is just not there yet - I have a feeling it is going to be the biggest plant.

I think I pulled the male & put it on my windowsill a little too soon. It had stretched quite a bit and the flowers were still not opening (as the weather is so poor), so I've cut the top off and put it in a glass of water in my veg cab for the moment. Hopefully this will open the flowers.

Another little update, just to say that the LR2 has now shown & it's a female as well. That's 7 plants in the little tent now. I think it's going to get a little crowded.

A pic of the male top 3 days after cutting. As you can see it's still nice and fresh, I snipped the end again today so the intake of water would be good. The top is under a 52w daylight cfl 20/4

Now been around for a bit as no internet, and takes sky 2 weeks to fix it. My male has hermied, so back to the drawing board on that. Pics of weekly updates in a few days when internet is not costing me loads, although this is the deadest thread in the world.

A couple more photos, first of all the tent. I've been a little neglecting, and the AK plant at the back right has a little def, nothing to be alarmed about though. The Blueberry & Diesel are a lot lighter feeders, I only need to step it up a little on that one.

Things just working along at the moment. The Blueberry plants are fattening up now & the AK cross is beginning to look a little better. I'm hoping it starts to fill out & it is not doing much at the moment. the Diesel gets cut in 2 weeks.

This Blueberry I grew completely in the 2lt bottle from seedling. It's being cut next week, it's a little early for me on Week 9, but no weed & I want to get the most out of the Diesel so the little one gets cut. It would've probably done quite well in the 2lt with another couple of weeks, but needs must and all that.

Yep, getting quite pongy in there now mate. Over the last couple of days the Diesel has really started reeking. Trichs on the Diesel are mostly cloudy & a couple of ambers on the top. The others are still quite clear & some cloudy, but they've got a little to go yet.

Yep, at the highest point they're about 1m. I usually supercrop to prevent such a large cola, but I was intending on breeding them & wanted to see their natural state.

Chop is less than two weeks, but not sure yet on a day. When I can fit a few hours in really.

They were all about 11 weeks give or take a few days bud. Hope your BD go well, supposedly a nice smoke.

Dry weights on the plants are 3oz from the 2 Blueberry & just over 1oz on the AK cross.

Cheers bud. Can't remember the exact weight (and you're right it's not on here), but it was around an ounce.
