Their not dead mate, try propping them up with something,eg.. stick a toothpick next to em and let them lean on that try not to damage roots. What lights are you useing, their stretching a bit
thats why their flopping over.

when you pot them ,bury the stem and only leave a bit above the soil.
you can also cut a straw to the length you need and then cut it long ways and wrap it around the stem for support.

Excellent idea about the straw.

Held them up with match sticks 4 now.. what do u think caused this.. is my light 2 far away? Will this restrict their growth?

lack of light is the most likely cause.either not strong enough, wrong spectrum or too far away.

How far should my light b from the prop? 400w hps it was just under 4ft... Do I leave at same height or move closer?

with a 400w light you need to be about three ft away from seedlings to avoid burning which can in turn cause stretching.
i use cfl´s or even strip fluorescents for seedlings as they do not produce much heat and can be hung very close to seedlings/clones and help avoid stretching.

Could I change the light now or would they get 2 stressed as I'm sure they must b stressed already? Also what cfl would u recomend only ever doin 8 plants at most

I use 110w cfl for first 2 or 3 weeks keeps em nice and stocky, used to keep 10 under mine in 4in rockwool cubes but only for first 2 or 3 wks, then under hps.

Yes you can change now.

changing the light to make them more comfortable will not stress them.
for seedlings and clones you do not need a great deal of light but you do better withthe correct light spectrum to encourage veg growth.a 125 blue cfl will do the job just fine as will strip fluoros [4 x 28w] in the correct spectrum.
after you can veg with the 400w light you have.

Can I put a cfl bulb in a hps reflector or av I gota purchase a new reflector?

I take it you dont mean connecting your cfl to your hps socket yes? and yes you can use your hps reflector.

I mean unscrew the hps n screw in the cfl.. does the cfl av the same fitting?

Stimpy

It probably has the same size screw in thread mate, but you don't use the HPS ballast with the CFL.

Like stimpy said just unwire the lead from the e40 socket on the refletor and add a new lead with a plug on so when you wanna switch back to hps it's just a matter of rewireing.
The fitting is called a E40

was gonna say me self like u just mentioned use cfls for seedlings and cuttings, 400 hps is i think to hot for seedlings, whack bout 150 cfls and they do ok, and yea they not dead just need support
