carbon filter sleeves

are these needed in a grow room i have been told that these sleeves are mainly for spray booths to stop the spray and filler dust from clogging the filter.
does anyone know if this is true

If you look at how dirty a sleeve is after a grow well thats what it,s for to stop all that shit getting in your filter.

I just wash mine in warm washing up liquid then let it soak for a good hour then pour warm water onto it but don't machine wash it otherwise it will shrink and be all tatty..

sold my old carbon filter on ebay without the sleeve, had to mail it out to him, as i had a mail saying ''the carbon filter is useless without the filter sleeve and wont stop my smells until i get it on''

i was laughing and im right to be aint i lol? its just for dust etc the carbon is in the filter lol
